| Quote: rhino2009 "What about Jack Reed from the Broncos? I know it's on another thread but it does seem odd making this commitment when you would think he's very close to selection for SOO in the first instance. Of course it could be another club over here that's involved!'"
no way is Reed coming to SL, not yet anyway. Why would he. He's just had a standout 1st season in the NRL.
Without knowing the lad I'd suspect he's chosen to play for England because he has some alegance to the country of his birth and also he'll get in our team now whereas I'd imagine he's still behind quite a few centres in the NRL and might need to wait 2/3 years to get a gig for the Aussies.

I hope you're joking about Senior's return! He's been great for the Rhinos over the years but a lot of people thought he shouldn't have had a contract this year. Is Tony Martin still been mentioned as the possible new centre?

I was joking about Senior. Just using the analogy to show how little chance there is of seeing Chase at Leeds next year.
Keith might still be at Headingley next year but playing for Carnegie.
The Martin rumour seems to have died a death and IMO if he was still on the radar (if he ever was) I'd have thought he would have been announced already as per Moore

Some one at work has been saying for a while now that we have signed matai. Not sure I believe that though.

| Until Mags returns to full fitness with his speed back Sinfield remains our best 6. Because Burrow has the best inpact off the bench then Mags is selected at 7. So I go along with the coaches logic.
Playing Sinfield at 6 has the added advantage of lengthening his playing career because as has been reported on here he has less tackling to do.
As the season has progressed those picked at 13 have put in some big tackling stints so the team is not at a disadvantage, in fact Sinny puts in more tackles than Mags did at 6 so we may be better off overall defensively.
I also think Sinny is a better organiser at 6 than Mags, but not as good a runner.
However we still need a quality half back with a good kicking game (and have done for 2 years) Because the so called "golden triangle" were so successful in their heyday does not mean they can achieve the same success in todays game playing the same way.
The game is always evolving and we have to move on with it.

Spot on.
Which makes the last few signings (Wellar/Delaney/Cross/Moore) a nod in the wrong direction.

Agreed but this is poor recruitment is down to GF.
Delaney is a repeat of McKenna who was also very average as a centre but became outstanding as a 2nd row. No credit to GF but credit to the coaches.

Yeah. McKenna did excel there and that position does play to Delaneys strengths with his obvious strong metre making carries and work rate in defence. But I would question the quality aspect. Anything in front of Delaney he will down every time. But he is caught out with plays that move off his centre point standing. Whereas McKenna was not only a tackling machine his execution and selection of tackling type was always on the money. whether it was a copy-book low tackle or wrapped up top. Any chance he got to go in hard with those big shoulders he would. An example of his mind-set of striving to make those high levels were clear after he was awarded the MOM aganist wigan at HQ where he scored 2 trys IIRC. Was he content? Nup. He was 'dirty' with himself for missing a couple of tackles that lead to Wigan scores. That level of dedication to his art-form you can't teach.

Chip on your shoulder much?
I never thought he would come to Leeds. Nothing has changed.
