Get back up sams ring where you belong, TROLL some other board.
Oh BTW if Leeds don't make the GF this year, any team to win it but wigan wa*kers, think that aplies to most RL fans too.'"
This maybe one of the funniest posts I have ever seen on RL Fans! Not enough "icon_lol.gif" can do it justice!
There might have been a reason there wasn't many red/white supporters on that Friday night Dear me!
I do apologise for CentralParkForever, does seem to be going a little over the top, but it is just one silly Wigan fan on here, so do ignore him. He does seem to have attracted a lot of similar Leeds fans though.

The banter I get, your vague recollection of 'the facts' are what I take exception to.

Obviously the 70-0 was in a game at Headingley 18th June 2005 and Leeds did also win the return fixture at the JJB that season (38-14) but if it's the biggest Leeds win at that ground you're seeking then it's 22nd August 2008 (52-16)
Not sure which game but I guess it's one of the three.

I only thought it was funny because I was at Headingley that day we got spanked and I certainly haven't managed to forget about it! I was just lucky enough that I didn't go to the Saints 75-0 defeat too!

| Quote: tvoc "But what of it? 1st time as a young unknown replacement the 2nd time because he missed out on Kangaroo Tour selection and he came to try and prove the selectors wrong, which they weren't at that time in any case. Good fortune for Leeds but both times for a short mid-season stint before he had gained an Australian cap. Not a big signing, not even a proper signing really, more like a player gaining experience on a working holiday during his close season back home.
'"
I think your vague recollection events might be off, not that I take exception to it.
ETs second stint for Leeds was during the 1988/89 season. The previous kangaroo tour was 1986. The previous ashes series was 1988 down under. IIRC ET played in that series on the wing for Australia before joining Leeds for his second stint.
I do hope my vague recollection is accurate as I don't want you to take exception.

| Your recollection of Ettingshausen's Test career may well be (and probably is) correct.
I recall he was miffed at missing out on the Kangaroo Tour and partly came to Leeds to prove a point to the selectors. That sense of injustice will have been heightened had he already gained Test caps in Australia so that would fit in quite nicely.
The more general point was that Ettinshausen was a replacement for Jackson backing out of a deal and he initially arrived in the UK as a complete unknown quantity, to me at least, as was McGaw coming along for the ride. Neither were major signing coups which was the impression given earlier by the poster mentioning them in the same breath as Crooks and Schofield's capture.

I still think you're getting yourself mixed up sir.
There could be every chance his first stint (1986/87) was due to being miffed about not being selected for the 1986 tour. However there would have been no sense of injustice prior to his second stint (1988/89) as he had already gained test selection by then in the 1988 ashes down under that immediately preceded his 2nd guest stint with Leeds. The next Ashes tour to GB was 1990.
If you really meant his sense of injustice was prior to his 1st Leeds stint it all makes sense. I'll give you that open door. Take it.

| No doubt.
The only person it appears more miffed than ET at the snub was tvoc. It's still got him rattled twenty years on. Silly old goat.
I suspect someone will be hitting the scrapbooks tonight in search of the unpleasant truth.

Mine is all from the grey cells so I might have blushes when the scrap books have been consulted.
Don't forget to put Batley out of his misery for me will you. No, not that way. In relation to the Dave Heron issue.
