Actually driving through Tad to Thorpe Arch now I’ll give you a royal wave on the way through.

Way back when in August, 4/5 GH emails ago, GH was issuing the rallying cry that the team was getting ready to push for the playoffs.

With Myler just announced as done for the year.

GH agrees to release our best attacking player in Austin to Cas on loan to help him get a deal for next year, on the last day of the transfer window. That still makes little sense.

Any moderately competent CEO would have inserted a condition that Austin could not play in this game as it may have been key for a play off spot.

Sadly we no longer have one.

I think Austin is very talented on his day, but is also inconsistent and has a chip on his shoulder. If he’s been too cocky then the club is right to stand on and get rid.

There are always two sides. Broadbent left I think basically for more money - if he’d been more patient he could well have had a run at centre or SO for us this year.

Walters also tempted out - if stayed would have had a run at prop.

Austin - we didn’t want to commit to him bc his form is all over the place and we’re trying to get more consistency - what’s the problem?

Sadly, There are quite a few problems Jim

We’ve let our best attacker leave and not replaced him
We are playing a slow
Second row forward at stand off

But even if I believe the GH spin on it which I don’t, do you think Saints or Wigan or even Leigh Miners Welfare might have said if we release you on loan, you can’t play against us this season?

Probably, but IF GH had fallen out with Austin, even more reason for not letting him play against us.

Even if the rest of Cas's squad looks weak, they have two halfbacks. That gives them a big edge. even if the effort os there unlike last week its hard to see us having many points in us.

Just on Sinfield, from next year he needs to be given a chance when a first choice halfback is out but the rest of the team is strong. Its really unfair and no kind of learning environment to play in the sort of teams he generally has since last season.

We put a few on Hull with a similar squad, Wigan and Catalans are a totally different proposition than Castleford

Your joking aren't you?? You expect GH to act using common sense?!? Preposterous suggestion!!

Quote: ArthurClues "I really hope there isn't, and don't think there will be, a protest. The club has given me far more than it's ever taken from me and to spit the dummy over 5 indifferent years seems a little churlish. I would have said it's time to pull together and try and lift a team (half a team) that is currently having a very rough time. If the board don't take decisive action in the off season I suppose people are entitled to vote with their feet/wallets.'"

Brilliant post.

Don’t get me wrong, something needs to change in regards to the playing squad and coaching set, but let’s not forget what this board has brought to the club…..

Some people have very short memories

Quote: Backwoodsman "It may well be the last laugh any cas fans have for a while. My reliable informant tells me they are in serious financial difficulties. It’s been flagged before but since then the situation has worsened.'"

I work with a Cas lad who’s in the know and is spot on with everything usually, also related to someone connected to the club. He reckons that Fulton Jr has no intentions of investing any more money, and actually wants to introduce a wage cap of 40k a year for first team players!!

There’s a reason why they’re having 'a clear out'

Quote: christopher "Ill be utterly embarrassed if there's a protest to be honest, it'll just look like a bunch of entitled fans.

What honestly would it achieve?

Other than to give the Cas fans a good laugh'"

Perhaps it's hyperbole Perhaps it isn't the proof will be apparent that is fact what you think it will or won't achieve is irrelevant.

You can't say that on here! It is way too close to the bone and current! The truth is the club is flapping like a stuck fish rubbish player management and even worse governance of contractual terms a complete and utter joke what decent player/management would want to do buissness with us right now?

If there was something being organised, I'm sure we'd have heard about it by now.

There was a bit of chatter about organising a protest by a few fans in the bars of Perpignan on Saturday night, but it appears they have forgotten about it faster than their hangovers. No mention on their socials, just the usual pre-game/end of season stuff and season ticket renewals.

However, I do think that if we are not looking competitive by half time, the bars will be full of people watching the Leigh/Wigan game.
