Think it`s more incompetence than bias mate.
Like some have said the bans Bentley, Tetavano and Newman received were justified.
The last 2 bans Martin`s received are a joke compared to others.

| I just don’t see how this all gets sorted out to the satisfaction of everyone?
They won’t be allowed to do it as no doubt it’s in the operational rules that the member clubs cannot take such action, BUT if they could/did, I’m sure that if the clubs ‘lawyered up’ and took this whole system to a ‘proper’ court as opposed to this Kangaroo court we currently have that they would be able to tie the RFL/MRP in knots and show this process to be the farce it is.
The only other option to bring about change would be if the players got together and went on strike next season, but again that’s not going to happen either.
So if the clubs/law makers cannot bring about sensible change through negotiations/meetings in the close season, I fear we are stuck with this and just counting down the days until the players are either padded up and helmeted like in the NFL or are wearing tags on their shorts and ‘tackling’ is removed from the game.
No one minds hefty bans for serious foul play but no way accidental contact that has always been a consequence of playing the game warrants the kind of bans we have seen this season.

A players union would be useful. You look at most major sports this is where most change comes from. There are examples of recent ‘lock outs’ in the likes of the NBA. And the NFL had them change off-season practices to prevent injuries I believe.
The NRL has a strong players union, and it has lead to some positives such as less fixtures. Granted it’s probably had a negative impact on internationals but the point is they have enough power to force change. To my knowledge we’ve never had one in SL. I vaguely remember Garreth Carvell attempting to set one up?

| Do either the match review panel (or Leeds for that matter) ever release the basis or evidence of the appeal? I think it would be easy to deem whether it fits the wording of ‘frivolous’.

| Wigan fan here
John Bateman was penalised for a high tackle last Friday that wasn’t much different to Rhyse Martins . Just poorly timed with no intent , and he’s not been banned ( and rightly so ) . I don’t see the difference, and that’s what winds fans up.
Our sport is a pale shadow of its former self. The governing body is slowly strangling RL towards a slow painful death.
Good luck at Catalan ! You’ll probably need some to be fair

| Wigan fan here said early on if Martin appeals he would definitely get the ban removed, this is a outrageous decision 2 games for a accidental foul.

| Fair play to all fans from different clubs acknowledging that the Martin ban is ridiculous. To be fair its is a system that is not fit for purpose and impacting all team. The grand final for whoever gets there may be decided by the lottery of the MRP the monday before the game. Our whole game is currently a mess. We have a chief excecutive standing down plus another board member.
There is a lack of direction and leadership at all levels within the RFL. We potentially have a great product that is being turned into touch and pass or a game of tag!

Yeh, this one stinks.
We've copped plenty of deserved bans this season for stupid indiscipline.
Bentley & Tetevano have (quite rightly) been given longer bans because of a poor disciplinary record.
Hopefully, based on the last few weeks, this has had the desired effect and they have learned.
We've also made stupid appeals - Newman was a deserved ban and extension on appeal.
But this one is ridiculous.
Martin is not a dirty player.
It's an accidental collision.
Thats where the MRP are getting it wrong.
There's a huge difference between intent and accidental.

| So is that Fusitua, Newman, Handley, Walker, and Martin missing?
Along with probably Austin and Dwyer.

| I'm certain the players will show a strong response to this decision in their performance.

It's barely going to be worth watching and not sure I will now.

| The threequarters are a big loss, plus Austin/Martin. Walker makes no difference. Dwyer would be a bit of a loss but we do have plenty of cover there. Given our likely team a competitive performance for 80 minutes would be a good result. It fells like a bridge too far though, and lots of lessons for next year.
I see yet again the panel has had a hissy fit, deeming Martin's appeal 'frivolous' and adding another match. I do have a slight bit of sympathy in this case for refusing the appeal as he caught the opponent high, but that is disgraceful language again and the extra game is a farce.
Definitely wait until after the last game, but I'd actually be disappointed if Leeds don't make some sort of public statement about the disciplinary.

| But the minimal and incidental touch on the end of Mellors nose on Martins arm brushing past to make the tackle around the ball is not the contact the mrp spoke about trying to eliminate from the game. There is absolutely no head injury risk or 'flexion' (to use their other favourite F word) .
I hope leeds do have a very public response to the whole situation, but I hope the other clubs are part of the that too as this can't go on and it needs a collective stance..
