There were two fundamental issues with this: one was the length of contract. The other was tying up a valuable OS quota spot in order just to get a bargain at the time.

No problem with Thompson, he can be quite handy on his day but this was a poor decision a la Crosby and some others we've made (in between some very good ones recently).

2 years was always a bad idea for an OS squad filler. My guess was that a 1 year deal wasn't enough to tempt him and we needed some depth this season as has proven out. Unfortunately that's the price of allowing the team to fall spectacularly, your have to pay over the odds for low quality images just to be stable.

Thompson is a huge waste of a Quota spot & git a 2yr deal.
At least King was a 1yr gamble we can walk away from we're lumbered with Tjompson for another year. Shocking recruitment.

King will probably be the one to make way. How many head knocks is that now?

Here's the bit I don't get. The club says nothing is decided but surely that means all 3 of them could come in on Monday morning and say they've signed for someone else. I can't quite believe we'd risk that.

Maybe the club intends retaining none of them.
