| Attended that game and the replay (30 odd thousand at Elland Road) too. So many dissapointments in big games in those days. Made 2004 and what followed all the sweeter.

One thing I know for sure is that whatever the coach the number of top class players in key positions is the key factor in success. We are still not there, but we are getting closer. It would just be nice if they ran out on pitch occasionally.'" I also like Agar he seems to have very good man management skills.Something i think McDermott lacked.A prime example of this is the recent interview with Handley where he says Brian told me it didnt matter how well i played as soon as Briscoe is fit you are out of the team. Why would a coach say that?
McDermott was very fortunate to have a fantastic group of players and for me ive always believed its players that win finals not coaches. It doesnt matter who the coach is if the players are not good enough.

Not me. Until we have two fit halves on the field we will struggle and we haven't seen that yet. Things will get better before long, the question is how much? I think it was you who said Agar didn't want to be coach next year. Heard anymore?

No. Can't imagine he'll want everyone to turn on him though. Would ruin things for him at the club, and he will want to go back to his previous role unless he retires..!

| He doesn’t deserve everyone to turn on him IMO, he may well not be the right man to coach long term (id hazard a guess he actually doesn’t think that) but he took over the role when we were at one of our lowest points and steadied the ship and got the team playing with a lot of desire which was lacking, he’s delivered a trophy and had a really bad injury crisis to deal with at the start of this year.

People are turning nasty Christopher. On here is probably the milder end of the spectrum. Britain is now built on having a scapegoat for eveything.....

Yes Ive noticed this in life in general lately and it’s not pretty. Respect and empathy levels are at a real low and Social Media is largely to blame IMO, were in an age where people think it’s fine to be pretty nasty just because they’re hiding behind a computer.

He’s a very knowledgeable Rugby League guy who has had far too much stick from people with far less knowledge of the game throughout his career.

Interesting comment Marty, do you know what he will be doing ? Do you think a change of coach is likely?
We will have finished paying Furner at end of the season.

Ive no idea if a change is likely but I would be suprised if it was by the club. I dont think it would concern Agar too much if we decided to move on. He has higher paid offers (plural) elsewhere on the table for less pressure jobs. He is much more respected within the game than fans think. Maybe he would be the one to initiate a change but I dont think he will.
Leeds think hes a "bloody good coach" but the club and Agar both know he will never be fully accepted by the fans and every defeat will always see calls for his head but theyve known that from the start.
We need a win to raise morale but next 3 are tough games no doubt about it. 3 losses and pressure on the club will really be on.

| I don’t think there is any pressure on Agar, he was only ever supposed to be a stop gap coach, if people are saying he is a well respected coach including the players he won’t be out of a job for long. You can only coach the players that are in front of you.
That suggests we are as a team a long way behind the four ball to where we should be. After 4 years of rebuilding we have one good quality half back, short of a class hooker, no number 13, and unfortunately a young but quality full back who has suffered the most horrendous injury. No wonder we have struggled this year and while we have 5/ 6 quality players in the team when they are fit we are still short of quality. Why would any quality coach come here unless they have their own recruitment policy, because unless we change our policy the next coach will be the same graveyard shift.
