| Quote: doc-rhino "where were you on the medley / dixon debate , guessing a dixon fan --also good in the 1990 test , played above his weight but medley had the touchline tries returning kick offs'"
Medley was one of my favourite players as a kid, was a bit gutted when we got rid, but in reflection we got a better all round player in Dixon. Medley had all the ability and talent but lacked the toughness.

| Quote: Marty Grrrrrrrrrr! "Medley was that era for Leeds in a nutshell. Could do some sensational things but had no heart and when things got tough was nowhere to be seen. He would make 3 tackles from marker and then do zilch for an hour. Soft but he could score from 60m and make an impact from bench too. Not exactly a grafter wasnt the lad tho.
Dixon was a much better player than Medley in my opinion but they was totally different players. Dixon had heart and fight. He played mainly at prop while Medley was a wide running 2nd rower and an even wider running defender.'"

| Quote: The Ghost of '99 "It really frustrates me that the club don't have the finger on the pulse of what fans would like to see - at least Stuart Duffy knew enough about Leeds to get some of the retro stuff, albeit he was lacking in other areas.
Get Craig Izzard on a plane over here, announce he's going to stand in front of the South Stand for ten minutes and you'd have the place full of people come to hero worship!
This is also the reason why I still can't see that Phil Ford-Offiah tackle on Youtube, one of the most talked-about Leeds moments of the entire decade!'"
The Ford tackle is ingrained in my memory along with the look in Offiahs face when he thought wheres he come from.

| Quote: batleyrhino "Medley had Box Office, but also taught Leon Pryce all he knows about hide and seek. Dixon on the other hand used to lamp his cows if they we’re misbehaving. Totally different creatures.
Dave Heron was my favourite Leeds player from that era.'"
Great player one of the last ball playing 13’s
I’d have him in hall of fame former ling term captain played for GB against kangaroos, played in Leeds worst ever era. That should not diminish him as a player, what would Dave have done if he played for Widnes, Wigan or either Hull sides in the 80’s GB captain possibly sack full of medals and maybe even man of steel.

| Dave Heron was pure class. Well ahead of Barrie Mcdermott I would have Batten, Smithy,Shoey and Roy Powell in the Hall of Fame

in the days of collecting autographs on the youngers programmes early 80s dave heron was signing next to a beer bottle which greatly amused kevin dick -- , think dave was probably most seen player at mr craig's , just looked up terry webb who was probably at loose when dave was at stand off who i thought lasted more than 3 seasons of hard drinking but didn't shirk much on the field

And I'm sure they'll be added in future years. I've no problem with that, do it like the WWE do, and induct a few each year, so they can each get the recognition they deserve rather than being lost in a crowd.

| We had Powell, Dixon, Medley and Heron up at Northern at the same time 92-94. With Fairbank adding a bit more steel. That pack was something else.
Heron was a shrewd signing by Fox in 1992. He would've been about 34 but he was still quick over the first 15m and was always good for a line break. If he'd been a bit bigger he would've been a regular pick for GB.
Medley was a luxury player really. Reilly used him correctly as a supersub. Before his time really as someone rightly said he wasn't up for the rough stuff and he needed a minder which he got at Northern in Skerrett and Fairbank.
Dixon was excellent and would be a good pick for the Hall of Fame had he played enough games. Another to play in two GB tours and get picked regularly vs the Aussies by Reilly. Like Powell he was a better player than Barrie McDermott IMO.

I bumped into Dave Heron in Anglesey this year, didn’t recognise him at first without his moustache. I ended up having a pint with him. He seemed like a really decent bloke.

| Another four being announced on Sunday. I think we can take it as read that Sinfield will be one of them.
For the others, if Jim Brough doesn't get in this time it will be an absolute travesty; the recency bias with this thing is a bit frustrating. I'd round it out with Alan Smith and Ray Batten.

There is usually one from pre war or just after so it should be Brough then Sinfield, Alan Smith I also think it could be Shoey ,but if not I wouldn't dispute Batten
