| Hopefully Holroyd isn't going to the Bulls permanently, I wonder if their recent link up with Hull has changed some of the deals that were going through?

| What's the views with all the time Newman is getting on the wing?
I thought he was decent enough against the bulls (mid level championship team for me) but I thought he was making good progress in the centres in what was a very difficult debut season.
I get giving sutty a run out but surely with Rhys signing he and not sutty is our back up centre?
If we feel we need a new winger then get one, don't try shoehorn a young kid in.

Same as yours. Why sign Evans to provide wing cover only to disrupt the ongoing development of a decent centre? And if Sutty's as indispensable as Agar seems to believe, stick him on the bench.

Looks like Evans is in front of Luke Briscoe as he’s in the squad for Sunday but Briscoe isn’t.

But Evans isn’t a winger. He used to be a winger, not since. Hence the underwhelming comments on his announcement. He will spend more minutes in the backrow come the season start than he will elsewhere.
As for Newman on the wing, completely stunts his development. It is a combination of having weak options there, and the clubs obsession in finding a spot for Sutcliffe no matter what.
I personally think Sutcliffe as looked good in the two games so far, but that doesn’t really excuse the stunting of others. Really, if the obsession was to keep Sutcliffe we shouldn’t have brought Mellor in, as they are almost like for like backrowers anyway.

Really don't know why people are getting all upperty over Newman playing on the wing, some very very good centres and players started out on the wing learning the game better before moving back into their natural posistion, it will help him become a better player without the extra pressure and don't see how it will stunt his develepment by playing half a season or so on the wing, and the side looks more balanced with Sutcliffe and Martin playing inside him. He will end up back at centre before long.

| Playing on the wing didn't do Watkins and Hardaker any harm at a young age.

Neither of them were established centres at that point either. So not sure of the point.
There have been plenty, absolute plenty, of potentially great wingers in the game, who never progressed due to confidence and reputation pulled to pieces. Wing is a high confidence position. So why risk potential of someone natural to another position going through that?
If he was a winger he would have been playing that in his debut season, not first choice centre, which he should be.
Right now though, as said we have no other choice there, hence shunted to the role, rather than right for the role.

Agreed, Queensland, NSW and Australia regularly move players between Centre, Wing and Full Back to fit the best players into a match day squad, I don’t think spending a bit of time on the wing will do Newman any harm.

| suppose it'd be at a much lower cost in terms of transfers too. Cant see the likes of Farrell coming to RL anytime soon, but possibility of others
