No bounce in performance for me. We competed early on but if Cas had taken their chances they would have been out of site by half time.

Players simply don't look fit

I've always wondered how Jason Davidson has made it so far as a conditioner. The guy is borderline obese.

Virtually no response suggests the problem is more to do with our lack of quality than anything else. That's probably the most worrying thing this year might have exposed. Regardless of the coach, we'll be lucky to make more than 3 major changes next season, so it could well take a few years to sort out the mess we've become.

I think we quite possibly haven't reached rock bottom yet.

Whoever the coach is, its time some of our senior players stood up to be counted. I'd particularly look to Sutcliffe, Moon, Cuthbertson, Ferres and Parcell to do much more. Its really hard to believe that the 17 we put out vs Cas are so lacking in ability that a 40+ smacking is the best they could deliver.

Each game becomes the seasons biggest game + yet we still don't perform. Were running out of games. I feel it could be too late.

We need to build some momentum so that even if we do end up in the Middle 8s its not a desperate battle every game, which we've shown little appetite for so far.

Personally I think the two big changes Leeds could make right now, that would IMO would improve us, is drop Ferres and Walters. Ferres for me is a bad influence in the team, he offers very little, and attracts too much needle on the pitch that we are not up to. I just don’t think he is a positive in any way.

Walters is just absolute garbage, and embarrassing to watch each week. Imagine been a team mate with this guy at the side of you. Yesterday he had ten, yes that is ten, missed tackles in the match. That isn’t even the full story, considering the gaps he leaves all over the place.

You could put 16 year olds in for me, they would still be an improvement on these two.

Another is what is best rol3 for Sutcliffe, because it isn’t working for him full stop. He doesn’t look up to this level at all. He seems to have the same attitude as many in the past, that he has made it now and doesn’t need to push himself.

I agree you lack quality in comparison to 5 or 6 years ago, but there should still be easily enough class to comfortably be top 8. Cas have played without their most important player, & their leading try scorer half the season, plus the best British FB by a country mile for the whole season yet are in third. Apart from SO Leeds have a cracking back line & some quality in the forwards.

its not just the quality of the players, its the not playing as a team !

In defence of Ferres i think he played the full 80 minutes yesterday? I maybe wrong but don't remember him leaving the field. If correct that is some effort in that heat. He no longer looks out of shape, and while he is not playing like the international second rower we signed, he has improved imo. I admit he set the bar pretty low though.
Regarding Walters, McDermott was criticised every time he selected him on here. Will be interesting if he keeps his place under Sinfield.

There's an easy yardstick to measure the squad by, all you have to do is match our players with those of the top 4 teams position by position, and see how many of ours would make it into the opposition teams. The answer is not many, therefore our squad isn't good enough.

Like I said yesterday, this is going to take 2-3 years to turn this around, and even then only if there is a will to spend a bit of money.
