I think stevie ward will be fine. I’m hoping we are doing the right think with ferries he wasn’t fit last year hopefully when he does play he will be injury free this year

| Thought our starting front row were poor, neither prop offered any punch whatsoever and parcell had an off night. Think singleton averaged less than 5 meters a carry.
Myler and walker were very good again, mylers had a great start to his leeds career. Walker should be first choice fb imo, goldings good but walkers a level above. Thought handley looked out of his depth early on but turned it around with a brilliant second half, think he's got some real interesting attributes and could be a top player when he fills out his frame, especially at where high balls wont be as much of an issue.
Im one of walters biggest critics, but thought he played well last night.

Fatty Ferris has been a waste of salary cap money. He doesn't look after his own body (likes the odd lager or ten) hence his fitness levels will never return. Loan him out to Bradford and let him prove himself. Answer is he is now Championship standard at the very best.

I read somewhere he couldn’t do any cardio training last year. Won’t write him off till I see him play this year

| I was drained at the end & couldn't even raise a cheer. Though that might have been due to sitting 2 rows down from that feckin drum. How people deliberately expose themselves to that is beyond me. I thought Cas's backs were very weak, especially after Webster went off. I hope he is ok, he's had some bad ones. I hope the moron behind me who was screaming at him to 'get up you cheating bsatard' has second thoughts next time. Definitely 2 bonus points for Cas in a game I had pretty much written off.

I believe this is true, i remember Printer posted a link to a Ferres piece not long back and it sounded like he has never been right since joining leeds. I thought he was a great player for the couple of years before he joined us when he was actually fit and able to train right so still hold out hope we can see a couple of seasons of that kind of player now he has been given a long break.

We looked much better with Walker on, and interestingly I thought Golding did okay playing out of dummy half. I think Golding lacks a bit a physicality to carry the ball out from the back into their line regularly, so maybe the 14 shirt could be his spot?

Never has the saying looks like Tarzan plays like Jane, been more apt than Mullally tonight.'"
Given our injury list who would you have changed in our starting line up?
Cas started very well with everything coming off for them in the first quarter with some good kicking and passing and nearly all the early possession. They were assisted by the ref, a couple of penalties but also a couple of defensive lapses. Delaney and Mullally came out of the line and left a gap for one try and Oledzki showed inexperience for another.
Walker is a class player and made one very good break but has to be rotated for his own sake. Golding is also a quality player and deserved his start and he had a very good game.
With Parcell lacking his usual sharpness in the first 20 minutes the momentum of the game turned around when Mac took him off and that was initially due to Golding moving to hooker where he tightened up the defence in the middle and put us on the front foot with dummy runs and distribution. He put in 26 tackles mostly against the Cas big men
Walker came on at the same time and was sound at fullback with one lovely clean break and good hands to get to the ball first and prevent a try. We are lucky to have two such fine players who can both play in different positions.
As it turned out the game was won and lost on kicking and the lack of a reliable kicker was the difference

Exactly why I wrote “watching from the stand” rather than “missing”.

| Agree with Juan here.
Golding shored up the defence and put us on the front foot whilst Walker added that wow factor from FB.
I would have had Dwyer on the bench for Walters but saying that Walters didn't do too bad.
Handley like Leeds had a game of two halves and should keep his place.
Sutcliffe might have to settle for a place on the bench and play in the pack.
After Barrie Mac bigged up Singleton before the game you would have expected much more from him but he was poor as was Mullalley.
Watkins was very good apart from his goalkicking and we will lose far more important games if he delivers a 40% strike rate in the future.
Has Golding ever been a goal kicker?
All in all I would have taken a one point loss after those first 24 minutes.

Don't disagree though that could be down to the stints both put in the previous week. I know Ablett ain't everyone's cup of tea but the effort he put in again last night was phenomenal.

| Singleton worked extremely hard in game last night, but he needs to add some power to his game to take him to the next level

| Frustrating that it was the opening quarter again vs Cas that cost us especially after we got off to decent starts vs Hull and Saints (even Melbourne) in previous games.
Singleton and Mullally struggled but they are doing it tough with a lack of senior props to help share the load with them ATM.
Hopefully should get through the next two games with wins (Hudds and Salford) with who we've got now but then we really need some bodies back.
