True. Whilst finishing top after 30 rounds is the "better achievement" if you asked most fans AND players they'd pick CC over LLS. For all our easy run in the cup so far, to win it we could still be looking at beating the current cup holders in a semi final and then the current SL champions at Wembley (which we've never done before) so it would hardly be a walk in the park to lift that trophy and two matches that would be tougher than any league fixture Cas have had.

As fans maybe but I bet if you ask the players which they would consider to be the higher achievement they would say the LLS

| Option A - win the CC and finish 2nd in the table
Option B - win the LLS but get knocked out of the cup early rounds.
If you asked the fans AND players to vote at the start of the year which they'd prefer then option A would not only win but it'd be a landslide.

I know we have all had this discussion on here many times, mostly us having to defend ourselves for the fact we have won the GF from outside of the top 2 a few times, but it still rings true. Teams know the champions come from the top four, not finishing top of the ladder.therefore finishing top is not a priority for the sides going in and every game is not as must win as much as it was when first got you the championship. So, although no.1 spot is nice, all it means is a home time to get to OT and nothing more, that's just the way it is. The GF >>CC>>>>>>>>>>>>LLS

Can anyone honestly say if Leeds won it this year it is a better achievement than a club like Cas finishing top of league? That would be some barrell scraping.'"

| Should be a great game tonight just a shame both sides are not at full strength. It promises to be a close match and lets hope the best team on the night wins and it is not down to bad decisions from the officials.
Leeds seem to be up for it but must keep their discipline and not be overeager.

Not in my opinion. But that wasn't the point raised, and as you say the merits of each has been argued to death previously.
The point was, which is the better achievement, a big club like Leeds winning a cup from just a few games, where the majority were lower division, or a smaller club like Castleford finishing top of a league over 29 weeks of rugby. I despair at anyone who says the CC is the better acheivement of the two, complete nonsense.

Fair enough if that is your opinion i have no problem with it, and i see it totally differently as i have pointed out so no point arguing any more on it.
I could see why to Cas especially this year finishing top would mean a lot and be a vindication of how far they have come but in general. It would be interesting to hear what the Cas fans would value higher a first CC win at Wembley since 1986 or the LLS?

Wembley win all day. Grand Final first with LLS 3rd. Would be happy winning just 1 though it's been that long.

If Cas are and have been spending the full salary cap, the sameas Leeds then I don't see where the difference between a "big" club and a "small" club come in.

And how many times has that worked out since the introduction of the salary cap? not a valid argument at all to what was raised anyway. Five games, with three against lower league oppossition, compared to 29 games all against Super League oppossition, that was the point of achivement.

True, but let's not forget that winning semi finals and finals requires lifting to a different level than what you see in the league weekly.

I might be in a minority but personally I would prefer us to win lls than get to Wembley (and I'm not just saying that after last weeks disappointment)
For me as a 40+ year cas fan I have never seen a team that's consistent enough to finish top of the league and might not again whereas any half decent team with a good draw can have their day in the sun as we have now and again.
So personally I value the lls very highly for us this year but I can see why for some clubs with a history of success might not value it as highly.
Tell you what you win the cup we win the lls shield then we will meet in the grand final as the decider
