Quote: rhinoms "If we get DC i honestly think both he and us would thrive on what we'd bring each other on our part he'd be joining a team that is always there or there abouts when the trophies are given out. We are a young team in transition ,we play a fast free flowing style but can also grind and do the tough stuff.
He'd be playing off the likes of Garbutt Cuthbo and Galloway with the pace and support of our outside backs imo he'd be a perfect fit.'"

That's why I have doubts about him, as you say, he'd be playing off the likes of...... Where as, the forwards needs to play off....the back of a good hooker.

You need to earn the right to play the off load game. My point is that we still need a 'direct' replacement for Aiton.

This icon_biggrin.gif

In all seriousness of all the names that are being speculated on, Clarke would be IMO probably the most satisfying for his longevity.

Only perceptions of course, but I also think he would slot into the prevailing team ethos better than any other. However, as others have said there are concerns about his box of tricks being limited to scoots.

Aiton has been a (surprising) revelation this season with his (surprising) elevation to being 'best hooker in SL' this season

He clearly doesn't look happy at Warrington .if he wants to come here and we can arrange it I would certainly try. At his age, English ,in a position we need..it's a no brainer.

Yes he hasn't hit the form of his Cas days bit that could be for many different reasons.

To be honest....I'd settle for a Burrow that 'can defend up the middle' ....a new Buderus would be better of course, but how realistic is it to get exactly what we need.

Totally agree.

For DC to work there would need to be a shift in how the whole team works together. Is that a trade off worth taking? That's one for the coaches.

Quote: ThePrinter "I think we've made inquires about every hooker going by the sounds of things.

Can't remember it being discussed on here but during the recent Wigan match at Headingley, Brian Carney said during the match that Leeds had inquired about McIlorum and that's why Wigan offered him a new improved deal earlier in the week.'"

Of all the names mentioned he is the one I'd least like to see playing for us. Of any of his attributes the only thing I reckon we would welcome is his aggressive defence. He offers no running threat, no creativity and he's obviously a suspension liability. DC would be best bet long term although I would take the second best hooker in the world as a consolation.

Frankly it's vital that Leeds bring in someone like Clark(e) to replace the soon to be departing Rob Burrow(s), Danny Maguire, and Kylie Lululeiluai as someone whose name the fans can't spell correctly.

Too many recent Leeds signings have been much too easy to get right - Briscoe, Moon even Cuthbertson. Time for change.

Very Interesting story regarding Leeds and Farah on the Sunday Triple M NRL podcast.

For the those who don't know Triple M is the major Radio station with the NRL rights.

If you are interested listen to round 25 hour 3 from the start for the full story. The Leeds bit is at 14 mins 5 seconds in.

I advise listening from the start. Leeds want/wanted Farah as the Marquee player. GH constistanly says we will not be using it so not quite sure what or who to believe.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Leeds enquired into Farah. However, I would be incredibly surprised if GH ever uses the marquee allowance. Its exactly what the Leeds ethos is not about. Its more likely that a radio station has made 2+2=5, particularly with the help of Farah's agent.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Leeds paid a fee for Clark, but £250k seems a lot.

£100k is the fee mentioned.

hull fan on Saturday told me Leeds asked about houghton a while back but were told no. however hull offered houghton to Leeds a week back, asthey need cap space, and Leeds said no.
that would lead you to believe they have another signing lined up

I may be way off point but isn't the marquee thing a bit of a red herring in cases?

Just because a club uses it doesn't mean they have one player on ten times everyone else, it could just mean they have a player on £250k, for example, but only £175k off that counts to the cap.

That way Leeds could get any extra world class player, maybe a hooker from the nrl, into the squad on similar money to other top stars without breaking our cap or pitting other players noses out of joint.

It's exactly that. People are too obsessed with Marquee being mentioned, they forget about the whole concept of the overall cap.

And this myth ethos about Leeds by some posters, just becomes incredibly silly. The Ethos is about a team, together, working as one, growing with one another. It has nothing to do with money, and some being on more or less.

When you add in the possible ways to misspell Daryl he could replace all three for those who struggle with Zak/Zac and end up resorting to 'Big Macs'
