| Quote: world class "Well that's where our opinion differs. I'd rather have a smaller pool of "world class" for players to aspire to than every man and their dog being classified as such. Do I think Sinfield has been world class in 2014? No. Do I think he's been world class in the past? Yes. Is he a true legend of the sport, absolutely. Do I think Hardaker is a fantastic player? Yes. Can he mix it with the best in the world? No idea, he doesn't get picked for the national team. Is he the best in SL? Yes, but that doesn't make him world class. If he gets picked at FB and plays against the current players considered best in the world at that position AND plays better then I'm happy for him, in my opinion of course, to be considered as such.
'"
Surely being in world class form and being a world class player are two separate concepts though? You can say ''Wally Lewis was world class'' without fear of contradiction. However, it goes without saying that he wouldn't be in world class form were he to take the field now! There is no definitive answer as to what world class is and I'm guessing that most people's views would differ to some extent. I still think it's wrong to arbitrarily put numerical limits on something just because it fits a preconceived idea of exclusivity. I remember a time when Wigan had two world class wingers in the same team (Offiah and Robinson) but that didn't mean that there weren't others too. The Aussies had a few at that time and, if memory serves, didn't you have one at Headingly as well?

| Quote: _dyl_ "1) If new signings is all you care about, jog on to football. There is plenty of new signings, twice a year in fact that should capture your attention span.
2) If you drank less at games, maybe you could concentrate more on the on field action.
3) The shirt a team plays in influences your season ticket decision? Then why don't you just support a different team each year based on who's shirt you think is the besterest!!! Then you will never be disappointed.
4) This has nothing to do with the regular season. This point is redundant.
5) Stop drinking at the ground then, you might be able to concentrate on the rugby that's going on in front of your face.
Southstander.com is becoming a place of moaning old farts so you fit in perfectly. Why bother picking and choosing your games at all? Just don't go and watch from your armchair while drinking cheap beer and shouting at the telly "t'wer better in my day!" "call that a shirt" "why's he still playing he's crap?" Sound's like you'll have much more fun.'"
Pardon me for expressing my (valid) opinion on a forum. In future I'll sit in a corner just muttering to myself as us "old farts" often do.
Did I say I drank a lot of beer? No.........but luckily for you some people do, and the profit the club make will have no doubt gone towards subsidizing the wages of all these big name signings we've made. Oh wait, we haven't have we and now I'm back to square one.
The point generally is that we seem to be getting less for more. If you're happy with that, fine. But take care at Headingley, I wouldn't want you knocking me in the Southstand and making me spill my over-priced beer!
Did I say I wouldn't buy a season ticket just based on a shirt. No, I said the increase was largely unjustified.

Really?
SS represents the opinions of small number of "fans" many of whom do not even attend matches as this thread confirms. Whereas the the majority of fans show their sentiments by voting with their feet at Headingley.

Classic Juan. Do you have some stats to back that up?

Please re-read my post. Where did I say [i"You don't go to games, therefore you're not entitled to an opinion on why people don't go to games"[/i- ?
Rather another case of classic Andy Gilder getting it wrong.
I have never been critical of anyone's right to offer an opinion - which is quite different from exercising my right to be critical of negative opinions such as yours. (Stats back up reference - read my posts and yours! )

Disgusting practice that.
Unless "Twinings" is tattooed on the pertinent nadsack of course.
Addendum: Apple's predictive text just tried to replace nadsack with nasdaq!

In your case it should be "sadsack".

| Did somebody suggest Luke Walsh is 'world class'? Odd that he can't get a gig in the NRL if that's the case.
