The luck of the draw plays a big part in the challenge cup. For example this year wigan played one team who finished in the top 8 of the league. Thats not to discredit their efforts but that shouldnt be ignored.'"
Did Leeds wanna win the CC? Yes, obviously, all the teams did.
The playoff system suits Leeds, with an old team they couldn't perform consistantly week in/week out and win the league, they've proven that time after time, and this season they were smacked by a younger better team (Wigan) who knocked them out.

They are not facts though, they are opinions.
Rewind 12 months and Leeds were champions and knocked Wigan out of both comps. Whereas this year Leeds haven't made a final yet you have reached two.
It shows swings can happen and we can't per-determine too much between the long established teams in the competition. That's within one season, let alone what will be seen (up's and down's) for a 5 year playing career.
More to close to home, significant personnel loses at Wigan will have an impact on their short term success. But currently no-one can say what that outcome will be.
I've given you a reasonable response considering your troll like attitude.

What was Wigan's excuse for not performing consistently week in, week out?

As you can see I've backed up my comments with facts and not resorted to personal name calling, which you have, so please don't try and take the higher ground.

| Quote: Last Son of Wigan "There's two comps to win, the GF or CC, this year Wigan have won one and are in the final for another, basically they've had the most successful season of all clubs.
'The challenge cup is not the sign of a great team'-yet every team in the country will do what they can to win it.
Interesting comment from a Leeds fan.'"
You won the CC by default. Any top 4 team would have won with that cup run. It was the icing on the cake that in the final wigan played poorly, but hull could barely get to tackle 2 without making an unforced error. It must have been the easiest run in rugby league history. Has any team ever won the final having only played one top 6 team?
It's quite staggering that you come on here, preaching to us. Leeds may be entering transition but you would be a fool to think that because of that, and the age of wigans team that they are going to magically dominate. If anything, leneghan has shown himself unable to hold onto some of your top youngsters. What happened to sam being nailed down and not able to speak to other clubs for 3 years? You had the wool pulled over your eyes there. Probably just as likely is that just as you achieve success, you lose another top player bringing you back into the pack.

Wigan proved at the start of the season they are all dominate when they need to be in the league. They have a young squad which can deal with the week in week out games.
Yes they cruised at the back end of the season when a top 4 spot was secure, but unlike Leeds they won the CC and got to the GF final.

Yes but you kind of miss the point about the strength of the teams.
Leeds actually finished above wigan in the table, how does that work then? or did you forget.
I think i want Warrington to win saturday now, your stupidity has tipped me over the edge.

Won the CC by default? What a load of BS... so so bitter. We won it, you wanted to and didn't. You wanted to win the GF and have been knocked out easily in the semi's...both were Wigan wins.

I was reading your posts with a little interest but then you posted this and blew whatever little credibility you had out of the water.
We finished with a higher league position than last year and were one game away from last years play-off run. To say Leeds is a team in decline is misinformed at best, more like deluded.

How many of the top 4 teams did you meet en-rout to Wembley this year, please remind me?

Does it matter? This all-conquering super duper young team of Wigan superstars would have eased up through the gears and dispatched them with ease surely? How could any team cope with a list of young legends like Taylor, Thornley and Dudson?? They proved how they could dominate early in the season, remember?? These are undeniable FACTS! Makes you wonder why this guy would be interested in Briscoe...i imagine there are 6 better wingers in the Wigan junior ranks as we speak, surely?

Leeds never cared about the league, hats off, pretty much the first team to save it all for the GF rather than going hell for leather and winning the league.
But look at your performances when it mattered, in the CC when you were knocked out, how you barely beat a Saints team who are a shadow of their former self, and of course versus Wigan, you were lucky with the scoreline. Your performances of late are a reflection of a team in decline.
Are you still a good side? Yes most definitely, but is that great team in decline? Yes.
