That's it, the bottom line.'"
Very Dodgy....
The ref keeps up with play and calls one forward pass.
Ablett gathers the ball on the floor after two freak bounces.
and its a whole different ball game.

Watkins is still too green to play regularly at the top level, he's developing physically, mentally and tactically but needs time and space to do it in.'"
I think he should be given this season to prove himslef. I think he would have been out by now if that wasn't the case. If he hasn't had significant game time by the end of the year then we should look at other options.
Some players need time to bed into the rigours of SL. McGuire, JJB and Ablett have had periods of injury and come back strong. I wouldn't want to lose the talent that Gibson is by making a decision too early. We as a club have lost too many good players like that

I don't know how you've reached that conclusion. It may turn out to be right but he's looked the part before his injury and when he came off the bench against Wakefield looked a lot more solid than Watkins or Ablett.
I think the coaching staff need to give him some game time, and not just one game or 20 mins in one game. I think he needs a proper run before we write him off.
Having said that he really doesn't appear to be in their plans at the moment.
I think Watkins is a real talent but they're handling him well. I suspect he will play the easier home and away games and then be nurtured in the tougher ones.
Personally, I'd chuck him him and live with any mistakes he makes because he looks a real talent with the ball. Let's face it, those holding the fort in the right centre aren't exactly playing mistake free defensively so what the heck.

i would aswell the old saying if he's good enough he's old enough springs to mind it. he'll gain more experience playing first team rather that ripping it up in the junior sides he'll gain nothing from that but all the experience in the world from playing with good players against good players.

The season starts in October. Until then, don't panic!: |
|
| After watching the replay on Sky last night, I've changed my opinion on a few things from my opinion watching live on Sunday
Leeds played better than I thought. All of a sudden the NRL is supposedly miles ahead of SL after 1 result! Utter bollox. Yes, Manly are a great team, and their destruction of Melbourne last year showed that, but the talk of how vastly superior they are is a massive overreaction.
Leeds could easily hold their own in the NRL.
The Ref was right on most calls.
The tackle on Burrow was fair, and certainly not malicious.
Peacock should have got a 'Red'.
Bailey really rattles the opposition, and I'd rather have him at Leeds than play against us.
I expect Leeds to be playing Manly again next year in the WCC.
Bring on Warrington.....

The tackle on Burrow was illegal as contact was made above the shoulder and Peacock's retaliation got what it deserved when he and Perry were sent to the sin bin.
If there's a case for a red card I'd be looking at Bailey's involvement as a possibility.
They'd be a couple of decisions Robinson got correct.

1157.jpg It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.:1157.jpg |

| The issue doesn't seem to be that Leeds cannot hold their own in the NRL, more that with the exception of Saints, only Leeds can hold their own in the NRL.
I'd agree that I didn't see much wrong with the tackle by Watmough on Burrow, it was classic "big bloke tackles little bloke".
We didn't need this game to tell us we are miles behind them.

Aren't tackles above the shoulder illegal anymore?

Always had doubts about his pace and acceleration G1, and the problems he's had won't have made him any quicker.
As for his injury record, I think that speaks for itself.
Strikes me as a Jason Golden type of player. He'll do a job for someone, somewhere but it won't be at a top SL side. Hope he goes on to prove me wrong wherever he ends up but I can't see it.

| Fair comment I s'pose. His lack of appearances lead me to believe that the coaching staff see it more your way than mine.

We dont tackle their fullback after the chip through and the VR rules offside...
Its all ifs buts and maybes. No arguement with Manly but they werent streets ahead of us and over the 80minutes the score refelcts a fair balance.
They added an extra gear straight after the restart for 5 - 6 minutes which we couldnt match.

Dunno if he's just being polite but he says some good things about us and SL generally.
