Just speculating, he may have no interest in RU. I would've thought though that Leeds would've gladly signed him up to a new 3/4 possibly 5 year deal if they could have instead of just the extra 2.

He's got another deal in him all the other recently retired players signed new deals when they were 32ish ,but Credit to the club for making him Captain too . I thought he seemed too reticent in speaking ,bit shy ,I was wrong .Excellent choice for capt . I expect a few more announcements coming a few older players are coming off and they cant afford to let them all go at once . I think Cuthbertson will get at least one year

I wonder if this has happened because Union clubs have been actively sniffing around? After his performances in the WC I wouldn't be at all surprised. Good news anyway.

Great signing not just for what he brings on the pitch, but having arguably a World XIII player signing contract extensions should help us attract further talent (both established and the top academy prospects) and sponsers

Phil Caplin mentioned on either talk sport or proper sport a while back that he had a similar deal going as Jonny Lomax where the rfl top up his wages to keep him in super league

Why would the RFL pay part of Jonny Lomax’s salary to keep him in Super League? No NRL clubs are after him.

It’s not the job of the RFL to be paying part of players wages and the wrong thing to do IMO. It undermines the salary cap, which is supposed to make Super League more competitive.

My thoughts exactly.

Now where are the folk who are quick to jump on GH and McD for their supposed failings. Another excellent re-signing. Generally we don't lose our home grown stars until a time when we're happy for them to move on and we've had their best years. If those individuals who are quick to have a dig are genuine supporters, you'd think they'd be just as quick to give credit where it's due on the retention front.

Watkins comments clearly show the players respect and appreciate how the club is run and the culture that has been created.
