| Bitter blow is that, fairly huge I'd say.
We want to be much better than last season and with Aiton that was huge step towards that.

Not really. There are plenty of medecines required to treat legitmate illnesses that are on the proscribed anti-doping list. If Aiton needs to take one of those for a while, and consequently can't play, then despite Billy's predictable insinuations everyone is behaving correctly.

| Shame. If he feels well then maybe he won't lose too much fitness.

| Disappointing news but if it is for no longer than 3 months at least he'll be back and good to go for the business end of the season.
Wouldn't mind seeing Robbie Ward get a bench spot in one or two games, obviously depends on the opposition. Maybe this week as he'll stand a chance of minutes against one of the lower teams.

I'd like to see ward from the 19s given ago, but like its already been mentioned, burrow will start at 9 and Sutty on the bench, and when brought on, Kev will move to 9 IMO'"
Or he could have something such as shingles which requires a three month dosage to clear and people with it are advised to to play contact sport as it can be passed by contact.

| It's a shame and hopefully he will come back fit and firing.
Ward has been in very good form for the u19's and I would like to see him get a run out but with having Sutty back it still gives us options.

it's a shame you didn't keep hold of him at Wigan.
But you had to make room for Shane Millard which is understandable.

or a blood borne disease, or even something like a blood clot which would see him needing to use a blood thinner making it dangerous to play.
Either way, no interest to me. Best wishes to the lad and looking forward to seeing him playing again soon.

| Robbie Ward or Steve Ward could do a job there in place of Aiton.
As long as we dont play Burrow there for the full 80.

Very true. I've a feeling its nothing more than shingles though. It ties in with the 3 months out and the back story. The problem with shingles is that if he plays he can pass it onto other players who haven't had chicken poxs. Also the treatment is steroids for three weeks. However WADA rules dictate you are allowed to take these steroids so long as they see proof of the blood work but the player can't return to play until the steroids have past completely through the system. Standard practise and essentially would be tested weekly until he showed a negative result.

| I suspect it's a standard medical application for a WADA banned substance (like the above mentioned shingles treatment, but steroids are used to treat loads of things). Like bewildered says, there are protocols for using these sorts of treatments for athletes under WADA jurisdiction.
If that's the case, I'm sure WADA are informed, and equally sure nobody else needs to be.

What about the 'wanting to know what's up with the players for the team you support' act?
