| Still doubt it would get any support......now if you were to suggest a North of England versus Southern Softies competition that would entice me in.

| The county origin game would turn into little more than a trial match for the England team.

| ..a trial game has actually the point of the exercise.
Having said that, the problem has been that the county games have always been low intensity, with as swiftcorn said, Lancs generally being rubbish for whatever reason. Cumbria was always the county that could be guaranteed to show effort - sadly they don't have the quality of players to compete with even a half-interested Yorks/Lancs.
The only way you could seriously use the county games is if the England coach clearly stated that whoever plays best in each position - regardless of reputation - would get picked. That's what Australia have done sometimes in the past - sometimes to the detriment of the national team.

| Was actually fortunate to be at the game at Etihad stadium last night (melbourne, not manchester!). Tells a story that no-one recognised my blue and white Yorkshire roses shirt from that ill-fated series a few years back. They didn't really give it chance in my opinion. At least there'd be the potential for a bit of a rivalry and some big interest. Frankly, who gives a RA about the exiles concept?

| I'd be up for it. Nantwich is right in one respect (noooooooo!) the major pull would be north Vs south. Shouldn't be long to wait..... Bugger.
What about Yorkshire Vs every other county? Cumbria, lancs with a few londoners? Only stipulation is they need to be able to represent GB/England.

| I don't think a "North Vs South" Origin match would work.
Talent from the South anyone??
Origin of the Roses with a big build up and some Education for those Young People who might not have a clue about the War of the Roses.
I think it could be a success, if we as fans make it a success.

| Not at the current "elite" level yet no, but maybe the seed should be planted at junior level.

| I loved the Roses concept when it first came out and I still proudly sport my Yorkshire shirt. I'd love to see it revived, especially in place of Exiles. There was no atmosphere at the games last year. At least the roses games have some real heritage outside the sport and could provide a level of intensity between week in week out Super League grind and being ripped apart by the Australians/NZ. It does need setting up correctly though, weekend date would be a priority really, gives it more qudos than a shoehorned in midweek game!

| We should just have Yorkshire vs. the Rest of the World, like with everything else.

...but they wont. Besides, the RL is trying to distance itself from its parochial past....resurrecting a Yorks v Lancs concept will simply seal it into its past. It's not going to happen.
As for "talent from the South"....come on. If the rules can be bent to accomodate the likes of Chase into qualifying for England it's not going to take a great deal of stretching the imagination/bending the rules to breaking point, to generate a Southern England team.

| I was thinking about this whilst watching the game. I went to a couple of the YorksVsLancs games and they were poor.
My idea would be 'Battle of Britain' East Vs West. Maybe not the best title but work in progress.
English players would be picked based on the location of the team they play for rather than their location of birth.
East - Players selected from:
Bradford
Cas
Huddersfield
Hull FC
Hull KR
Leeds
London
Wakefield
West - Players selected from:
Catalan (I know they are east but we have to balance things)
Salford
St Helens
Warrington
Widnes
Wigan
A one off game maybe held at the Galpharm on a weekend where prior to the game some junior and amateur cup finals are played instead or as well as before the challenge cup final.
Only an idea but some interesting teams could be selected.

| I remember yorkshire battering lancs and diskin being the best player on the pitch by a mile. Come test time he never got a look in. Its a complete waste of time and money. Same old faces will get picked

| Yorkshire are waaaaaay more bothered about this "rivalry" than Lancashire, hence it will never work.
Always makes me smile when we travel away and hear the "Yorkshire" chant - never crosses my mind to chant about Lancashire when supporting Saints (cue - that's because you're from merseyside jibe )

| I enjoyed those games in the sixties between Cumbria Lancashire & Yorkshire. I would welcome a return of a Lancashire v. Yorkshire match but played @ the weekend rather than during the week, as they did in the past.
