Yes. They may be doing very well, but on the day that you keep them off, they are learning a new method of addition or subtraction. The teacher is teaching them the basics which will allow them to do the sums the day after.
Your kids go back in and dont have a clue. They are behind already.

My lads are 14 and 16 and are old enough to make their own decision. My eldest is currently in the sixth form and was recently taken out of school for a week on a training course. We questioned if he would miss anything at school and they said "it's only a week, he can catch up"! And whilst your so interested my youngest got a certificate at primary school for never missing a single day.

It would be funny if council inspectors catch the 14 year old out with you

I was just reading Paul O Grady’s Biography and his teacher made him read at the back of the class because he was that far ahead of everyone in reading and what have you. Education is just common sense in my opinion and if your bough up the right way then your three R’s are a ride.

14 and 16 are important ages in a child's schooling. They will be taught things for their GCSE's and A levels or equivalent. A training course is probably somewhere where your child will learn things that are important or may help him in future jobs.
