Cheers sarge
Good to see Delaney back grafting tonight. Appeared to be wearing no leg bandages which must have saved a fortune and helped reveal another tattooooo.

| Thought we were excellent last night, make no mistake that was a good Hull side. For me the best performance of the season, clearly. We not only scrambled in defence, but actually defended very well throughout, which is different to some of our other performances. There was some real desire, aggression, and team work in that performance.
I was gutted at half time when they got that drop goal, many really annoyed as you could see it happening. But first five minutes of second half you could see something in us, and I was saying we are going to win this at that point, with a few around laughing it off. What we showed was something we haven't all year.
Though Garbutt, Moon, and Watkins were outstanding. Thought Achurch really put in a shift and should have shut up some critics. Burrow had an excellent second half when Segeyaro came back on. We showed what a difference it makes with a proper hooker in the side, it's simple really. Galloway kept going. Sutcliffe looked good ball in his hand, but his positioning leaves me shaking head, perhaps because what we have been used to, but I don't really notice oppossition fullbacks not there immediately. Hall followed up last week with another really strong show.
We still had some poor performers, but from an effort perspective, it is hard to critisize anyone on that game.
I really want to beat Wigan though.

He was injured for the last quarter. He may not be international class but had we had his tactical brain and kicking ability we could have been challenging again this year.

From the Sky touch line that's exactly how it looked to me too. Had Sneyd been playing for us we would have won at a canter.

| It you were watching the game without knowing the league positions you would have thought it was a top 4 clash, you deserved to win and pretty much apart from the last 20 of the first half dominated the game, we were only kept in it because of Sneyd.
I though your forwards hit hard and ran well, but I though the two factors that we lost the game were your attacking kicking gane which we could handle and Hall who was excellent.
Though the new hooker went well, some of his passing was a buy wayward and but he looked dangerous and got you on the front foot.
You will win the middle 8's at a canter.

| Got to disagree with Gotcha on a couple of points
1. make no mistake that was a good Hull side . No it was not and it is not
2. Achurch performance should shut up his critics . Great , that makes up for years of dross he has churned out ,

Of course it was a good Hull side. I think you have to give more credit to the performance of Leeds here. Hull have shown enough this year to be regarded as very good.
I didn't say Achurch had made up for anything. But he has put in decent performances for a few weeks now without credit. Last night he played very well, and it deserves to be mentioned. People should comment on what just happened, rather than predefined views.

Must have watched a different game to you. The league table doesn't lie Hull are where they are on merit. Achurch had one of his better games apart for their first try, but then again we have been having those soft try lapses all season. All we need now is a decent class half, Sneyd kept them in the contest until he strained his hammy. After silly talk by some that we were going to be battered by their forwards I'm still waiting for that to happen;oh and we can only beat them if its raining excuse. You can tell it is still their cup final. Let see how Hull fair with Sneyd missing, cos I don't think Price is up to it any more.
On a final note we will be aright if we can keep bodies on the park.

| Having had time to reflect I thought Leeds were very good last night - they made a good Hull side look average
The desire the team showed was refreshing given what had happened the previous week and the short turn round
On that performance they would have beaten the majority of the SL sides this season and Leeds didn't look like the team at the bottom of the table

As Ablett said after the game, the table doesn't lie and that's as true for Hull as it is for us. You don't go on a winning streak and end up top of the log by mistake. They've played some really good stuff this year and ARE a good side, just didn't show it last night, primarily I'd guess as Ellis was missing.

I think Ellis certainly makes a difference, think like every team this year we are going through a bad patch, better know than latter in the season and for the firs time this year injuries are starting to hit us.
Hopefully saying ourselves for the cup semi.

| Dare I say it, are they finally turning the corner?
After those 3 horror shows against cas wigan and warrington, they have pushed a good Catalans team all the way, beaten salford and wakefield, just lost to widnes and have beaten the (before the game) LL away from home.

| Depends by what scale we are judging hull. in the context of 'table toppers' they are probably a poor side. Not overly creative, outside backs big and fast rather than skillful, run through rather than past or around sides.
In the context of this year, they are a undoubtedly a good side, fantastic kicking game, big strong pack, good defence.
In SL at the moment a team which does the basics very well and keeps a bit of pressure is good enough to win most games. I don't know if they will be lifting any silverware this year (not least because largely you have needed to lose one to win one) but nobody will be wanting a game against them.
Thought we did well, committed defence, players pushing up with the ball carrier, limited errors. Watkins had a very good game imo, the pack as a whole did well, though Galloway always seems to be on for a set too long and this costs us penalties and breaks, Sutty player very well at FB, Handley continues to make the big money Briscoe signing look a little short-sighted.
Segayaro i think looked a little rocks and diamonds. That pass on our own twenty just after we scored was unacceptable, he got pinged for a pointless forward pass too and looked a little lost at times in defence. He also looked a strong, nuggety player, good speed around the ruck, generally got the ball away early and accurately, and his pass out of half for Watkins to barge over was something we have missed since Buderus.
On Lilley, yeah he made mistakes, yeah his execution was hit and miss, but ill tell you what encouraged me, in a close, tight game, for a struggling side against a big tough side full of confidence he didnt shy away one bit. He became more involved and executed better when the game was on the line.

| imo, Watkins had a much improved game having to do less defending than he has been doing but still shown as a little weak defensively. Garbut easily MoM and probably player of the season. Segeyaro looks like he will be good given that he has only had 3 days to train with the team and learn team systems. Lilly did look a little confused as to where to be at times but again i think this is a systems issue being only called in at fairly late notice. the point is at last we won a tight one, it's all about building on this and gaining a bit of momentum to avoid playing the MPG
