Great way to save money. Will it be spent elsewhere in 25? Hope so.'"
As long as the investment is made elsewhere makes sense as a short term option. We need the money spent on improving our pack and Fus for Hall releases a good chunk of money plus a quota spot. I get the frustration but if you look at the stats for this year hes miles ahead of Roberts who's currently playing there in every one that matters. Davies or Johnstone would both be great but would be wasted at Leeds unless the pack improves

| Ryan Hall in 2025 then to a ‘role’ at the club. Classic Gary move. Buys time to let academy players be ready, under the tutelage of a great player. And like many other former leading players, Hall is offered a sinecure with the club. If anyone has a list of these former player sinecures I’d like to see it, but my sense is that they often don’t last that long, or in some cases a former player seems to be still hanging around the club whilst it isn’t clear what they are doing.

| Ryan Hall is comfortably the smartest of the former players to be offered a role with the club. He’s a very strong candidate to take over from GH after a couple of years learning the ropes.

| Roberts is an average super league player, not that safe under the high ball. Doesn’t do many tackle busts. Another pound shop bargain basement signing.

He's going into the commercial team.

Was always meant as a cheap back up for Newman to stop us needing to shift Martin around imo

| As Geordie Rhino points out ,some of the former players its puzzling what their actual role is ? particularly JJB. I spent a good few years trying to figure out what Jason Davidson's role at the club was ? Ryan Hall is an intelligent ,smart lad anyway, he will do well

That makes more sense as you cannot just walk into a CEO role without some experience I would have thought.
Do we still have JP and McDermott at the club?
And if so doing what?

I’d imagine he will do a bit of a tour over 2-3 years to check he’s suitable before he moves up.

| George King is avaliable from HKR, surely the kind of experience, steady prop we should be after? By no means a world beater, but would certainly be an improvement on Sangare and Goudemand, and would be a good mentor to Holroyd and Mik.

| I'm happy to see Hall back at the club. It's hard because the Goldens had great success on the field, but of course apart from being mentally tough and fit, not all their skills translate into the world of admin/business.
I actually thought Sinfield made some garbage recruitment decisions when he was in charge. It's really hard to establish who actually pulls the strings at Leeds though with GH still in there.
I'd like to see Danny Mags back in some capacity in the coaching set-up, I think he's respected and again very smart tactically.

Yeah I'm not sure on King myself. You're absolutely right he could add some consistency, but a) why are one of our competitors looking to let him go, and are we now just continuing to sign other team's cast-offs? b) could the salary for him be better used towards a more ambitious signing?
Not sure. I would have been more excited had we got Eseh and/or Okoro to be honest.

You're right in that Eseh or Okoro are better long terms prospects. My worry is that our front row is either too young/inexperienced or too lightweight. Someone like King is a good size, and coming into his prime years. I had assumed they were letting him go to make cap space for JWH.

| We've recruited very poorly over the last few years in the front row you have to say. We've some promising young players in that department but we've been lacking for a while in that department. Rohan imo has messed up there as i thought he would have put that right by now (to be fair the coaches before him made bigger errors but i'm surprised Rohan hasn't managed to sort).

| I think who we've let go from the front row has been worse than the actual signings. Put Dupree, King V, Harrison and Walters in this squad, and it's a top front row for this comp.
