Phil Clarke was going on about 20 years ago Leeds paid wire 350k for the one man band, Harris (as Mick Morgan used to call him )so why today don’t they pay £500k for Trueman?

I suspect it’s a rumour solely within the confines of his pie encrusted imagination.

Lest we forget that Phil Clarke said on Thursday that Mitch Garbutt was 'in my opinion one of the Top 10 players in Super League, Eddie'.

It has subsequently been revealed that there was a late problem with the paperwork that only came to light on Friday afternoon, after Fev had landed in France. McLelland trained with the team in the week and would have started.

Trueman is nowhere near as good as Harris was then.

Garbutt is certainly in the top 10 forwards in Super league and for sure Trueman is no where near the class Harris was at the same age

Nobody is anywhere near how good Harris was in 1997. I include all the current overseas players in SL in that assessment.

Harris was by and large arguably the most gifted player I have ever seen playing for Leeds.

And an accurate assessment it is.

One of the greatest player in the SL era - shame he was ruined in RU - he didn't run across the grass he glided across it. The best body swerve I have seen in a modern player - genius.

It'd be really interesting to hear his view of what happened. He was never as fast as he sometimes looked - awareness made him get into position faster than most. A bit like Tomkins in his younger days.

And he made it all look so easy as well.

Cliff Lyons was my favorite effortless player. Didn't have the speed of Harris but if those sort of stats are available from thet era I'll bet his try assist was through the roof

Iestyn was an unbelievable player. I don't think he was that fast but he was fast enough.

He could break defenders ankles with his swerve and step and he had tremendous vision to open up defences. Just pure class. Serious class.

When the late great Graham Murray, RIP Muzz, got his hands on him and put him to full back it really brought the best out of him.

He was magnificent was Iestyn and it's a shame his return to league was handled the way it was.but it doesn't take away his brilliance in the blue and amber.
