The Golden Boot award tends to be based on the play offs and Internationals in which Sinfield won both as captain with 3/4 MOM performances. Barba/Tomkins are great players in the less intense weekly rounds but have yet to showcase it in the big finals. Cameron Smith was Sinfields main rival.

Its great Tomkins scoring 5 against some mickey mouse club but where was he in the 4 nations final last year or the CC semi this year. The best players are the players teams turn to in big matches to get the victory. Sinfield has won three trophies and lost out in a final. His kicking in play and at goal which I believe was 100% in the play offs was exceptional.

Sinfield has been a great leader, very professional and has been the most influential player in SL when it has come to the big games. Sinfield is certainly the best player in SL and you cannot argue how influential in Leeds victories he has been.

The Man of Steel award is awarded too early, some players leave their best performances for the biggest games. SL should make judgement once the biggest match of the season has occurred.

88, I understand what you're saying, well why don't RLW say that, that the latter matches in the season are bigger and much emphasis will be put on those. But they're not! As State of Origin are the biggest matches, and as you know they're in May/June and July.

Big Brian has 2 championships in 2 years, better than any of your SL coaches. So forgive us if we pay NO attention to your pathetic contribution on this topic. But it's quite obvious that what comes out of that pie filled mouth is tripe. And so what if our players don't hit our dizzy heights all season? Mo Farrah wasn't in the lead for the majority of both his races and he's a double Olympic gold medalist. We'll let the little pretenders run off into the distance, because with Sir Kev pulling the strings, we know we've got a monster kick that'll see us over the line.

I think the Wigan forums have consistently been the most entertaining Rugby League read these past twelve months. Not just today, the dummy spits and hilarity have spread over a whole year. So thoroughly has their once-admired club been repeatedly put in its place by Leeds some of its fans have even apparently fallen out of love with Rugby League. Tragic.

But for their efforts surely LPL should be producing an award for them too?
