Quote: Serge A. Storms "Whether Leeds are taking the game seriously has never been in doubt and is not where I am coming from.'"

Perhaps it is now.

[iSix days before the biggest game of the season so far – the Gillette World Club Challenge – stars from Leeds Rhinos happily took part in a testimonial event for team-mate Matt Diskin, at the Frontier Club in Batley. They didn't just take part, they worked hard at it. When this reporter rang Jamie Jones-Buchanan on Monday afternoon, he was in the middle of rehearsals for his Jackson Five tribute performance, along with Kallum Watkins, Brent Webb, Rob Burrow and Keith Senior. [/i

Glad to see the players have got their priorities sorted.

Quote: Serge A. Storms "One thing is pretty certain, Melbourne will field their strongest side available for round one of the NRL competition. The nature/competitiveness of that league demands that.

That is the comparison that should be made with the team that plays on Sunday IMO - if the two sides are pretty similar [size1[/size/2 changes then that is a good indication that Melbourne have given the game the gravitas some on here believe it deserves - however if the side show 6/7 changes then you know they have treated the WCC as a warm up game.

Time will tell'"

Now that time has told, David, what say you now?

Does this mean you and others were wrong to claim the game meant little to Melbourne and the 'some on here' have been proven correct.

Didn't make it for round one. If he wasn't fit for round one it's fairly safe to say he wouldn't have made it for the WCC either.

Played in the WCC so let's cross him off your list shall we.

It appears Quinn was the last unless you just got bored with the exercise.

One change to the WCC side. Proctor in for Lowrie, and Tandy back on bench.

So all those numpties that said Melbourne would not take it seriously as leaving players at home. What's the score now?

I reckon Gotcha has [ifinally[/i won an argument on RL Fans.

I'm taking the rest of the day off. I'll be in the pub and the drinks are on me if anyone is interested.

OK Serge I think I get it that you're not going to 'reflect' on Melbourne's Round 1 selection for the NRL, despite doubting their attitude to the WCC and stating how best to judge it.

I look forward to your views next season should Leeds be in the fixture again.

We'll hit form eventually.

A combination of the WCC and some local rivals has seen us lose 3 games.

But we're only 4 points off top. We need to make sure we win the key games and we'll be right back up there.

We've won 3 titles on the trot. Recent form like this help stoke the fire.

Should be a good game, we have a few injuries stacking up now and I thought KR looked good in the first half, you beat Saints only the week before so no reason why you can't win this one.

Melbourne Storm Round 2 preview www.melbournestorm.com.au/defaul ... ch-preview

For the second week running it appears that Melbourne will field 16 of the 17 players that faced Leeds in the World Club Challenge. (If Ryan Hoffman hadn't picked up an injury in Round 1, it would probably have been the exact same 17 with Ryan Tandy dropping out for the fit again Todd Lawrie.)

The injured players that Melbourne left behind when travelling to the other side of the globe appear to be still unavailable to coach Bellamy and further cements the view that he played his best available side in the WCC fixture that some were suggesting beforehand 'he cared little about'.

I almost forgot about this thread this week)

Cooper Cronk (the now infamous number one absentee from the WCC game, staying at home to ensure he was fit for round 1) finally makes it back on to a 1st grade rugby field some 27 days later.
