| The lack of competence isn’t around anything to do with other clubs or the government, it’s around how something that is relatively obvious can be missed in the first place. When RFL were thinking about rules around excluding players from the cap, it’s at best negligent of them not to consider the impact on different categories of player that could be affected.

| The misunderstanding here is thinking it is the RFL who create the salary cap rules.

| The RFL are the body in charge, they are responsible in making sure all the rules and regs created by whoever, are fit for purpose.

They essentially implement the rules. The clubs define them.

| Given Salford have been saved , have any of our inside track posters heard anything about who we might be after to fill the Sivo space, assuming the quota issue is cleared up.
Given each club has 7 quota spots , who usually fill spots in the starting 17, the rules don’t cater for 40% of the potential players that could be impacted. That’s a pretty poorly thought out rule.

No nothing about him. Aged 24 and never played NRL? Not that this means anything. Looks like he is a centre. Hopefully, Arthur has picked up a good prospect for us.

| Yes, centre and wing. Looks a unit and from his highlights I’ve seen is quick, strong and hits hard in defence. Looks a good young player. I’d be amazed if Arthur didn’t know about him and rates him so that’ll do for me. Gives us more depth and a bit more added physicality

| Never heard of him, never seen him, not sure what to expect. In his highlight reel from last year, he's seen stopping Sivo from 10 metres out (about 1:10 in the above video), which is, maybe, quite interesting (or maybe not).
The article on the Rhinos website does say he's a centre, and doesn't mention the wing, so maybe Ash is going back out to the wing after all?

Effectively a shot to nothing for us. If he's any good at all it will avoid a scenario where we are throwing lads who are not ready into the first team week on week. Hopefully he can bring something new to the party. The key for me is that it's a one year deal so it's not going to get in the way with our strategic recruitment and development of players.

| Finding diamonds in the rough was Blease's job coming in. Too many times we've signed players with a decent rep who appear to be rubbish, so I'm more than happy to give him a chance.
If you listen to the latest 'off the bench' thing with Sky, BA pretty much confirms he'll be home after this season for family reasons, which is fair. Any thoughts on who will be next?

| I guess the only concern is that if we does turning out to be a diamond, who does he replace next year.

| Lisone would be potentially replaceable with a British player. Depends how good the lad actually is of course.
If BA isn't going to stay past this season, we should be looking to find an absolute top quality replacement. While too many signings have been shambolic (for a number of seasons), we really haven't helped with the amateurish selection of coaches (an ex player with a terrible NRL coaching record propped up by his dad, a failed SL coach and Tony Smith's nephew). Before anyone suggests it, I don't think McGuire should even make a shortlist until he's had a couple of years as head coach somewhere else.

Depends if Sivo recovers fully, he might never play again or just want to go home after 12 months injury.
Even if Frawley and Lisone go well this year neither really warrant and extension.

Think Langley is already being groomed as next head coach

The frustrating thing about that interview is that Wilkin affectively blurted out an answer for him before he had time to open his mouth. I'm sure his heart strings are being pulled, but if he were 100% sure about going home we'd know by now. I'd say there is still a chance he stays for another year particularly if we start the season well and no opportunity materialises back home.

| I doubt it, I think if BA heads home he will have a hand in finding a suitable replacement from within NRL.
