| Really good team performance, our line speed, and general attitude to defence is superb at the moment, even when the opposition make a break our scramble defence has been outstanding. Strange thing is that despite the performance being excellent we have a lot to improve on too. The kicking game overall was pretty shocking from both teams over the 80 minutes, and we should really have won by a couple of more scores.
There wasn't a bad player in the 17 really, although Kirke didn't reappear in the 2nd half IIRC. Hardaker, Hall, Ablett, and Delaney were all outstanding, and our dads army once against were too much for their opposite numbers.
On a side note I think John Bateman will be SL's premier 5hithouse within a couple of seasons

I've not seen it back on TV yet, but at the game it looked like Mickey Mac was held up over the line? If he was, shouldn't the PTB have been taken 10 metres back?'"
That was exactly my moan at the game. We were above it, and the ball was held up over the line.

Delaney outstanding? Thought he was well off it personally. To be fair the very narrow 10m from Bentham was the main reason, but didn't think Delaney was making much yardage at all, and he must have missed 4 tackles also. Thought Achurch looked better than him defensively.
Will look forward to seeing stats, but we did seem to miss a lot of tackles overall, far too many, despite some good defence. Moon and hall missed a lot, and on the other side, McGuire and Watkins in first half seemed to miss a few, but could have viewed harshly.

| I thought our defence was phenomenal again last night. We missed more tackles than them, but that might be a price of the speed of our line moving up. And the cover and scrambling defence is out of this world. Their 2 tries were both soft. The first one looked like McIllorum was over the line so it looked like our defenders were waiting for him to be moved back. The second try was actually good defence but it looked like they thought the tackle was complete and Taylor had another go. Apart from that they couldn't threaten our line.
I've not been McD's biggest fan, but he's done a cracking job this season. Lye seems to have got the best out of the team. And Sutcliffe seems to have benefited from his loan. Thursday is going to be a cracker

| This game is exactly what SL should be about, two evenly matched sides genuinely testing each other across the whole spectrum of the game.
The match had skills, big hits, intensity aggression, big crowd - the lot. The score flattered Leeds a little in the end - they were deserved winners.
This is first game where I was really impressed with Achurch I thought he was one of Leeds' best players tonight. Watkins just oozes class - when he gets the ball at pace he shows what a truly special player he is. The timing of his pass to Briscoe was sublime.
Maybe its me but I am struggling to see what Delanney is really adding, yesterday he was on his haunches after twenty minutes and this is now every game. Is inability to pass is costing opportunities too.
Some really nice tries last night, Hardaker's was superb as was the build up for Hall's. We have as good 3/4 line as there is in the league - BJB has been very unlucky here not sure Briscoe has shown enough to keep him out.
Whilst the on line defence has been good there are some problems further out - Moon must have missed Gelling at least 6 times in the second half alone.
Great entertainment - pity most weeks fall so far short of this.

| Why was the kicking game awful Gotcha , i am pretty sure the plan was to kick in the air to Bowen at every oppertunity . Now you may have anargument against that tactic but it was carried out to near perfection .

I thought the score flattered Wigan massively. Thought we were totally dominant.
Agree entirely on Delaney. And I said the same about Moon defence last night, though will wait for stats to see if so.
As for Briscoe have you seen his yardage in games? That I think is why he does and should get the call over BJB, although unlucky for him.
As for the kicking, please, don't tell me it is a game plan to put a ball straight down a player like Matty Boowens throat. Have a word.

In what way? Rather than your brash unfounded statements with childish pictures, explain it. Who know you might be right, but try it.

We must agree to differ on the first point - I thought they had a good share of the game and the match was closer than the score suggested.
How many of those yards are generated from dropping back and collecting kicks - Bowen's yardage last night must have been huge - any fullbacks would have been last night with our kicking game. Its his attack - playing outside Watkins should be a dream but he bombs too many chances for me. IMO BJB would have converted more than Briscoe last night
On a another subject I thought Bailey was really good last - shows what he can contribute when he puts his mind to it.

I dont think any of them will have run off home to have a moan and pick minor faults with individual players after such a great game.

Where did Briscoe bomb any last night? I think there have been occasions other games, but last night? The one he took on the touch line and showed brilliant skill to get a kick in whilst tackled was one of the few passes he received.
The point on returning kicks is correct but important. That yardage from him each game, with Hall, is what is putting the side on the front foot.

| Great performance to batter a close rival but still plenty to work on. Our points conceded is so good because we have an aggressive never say die attitude but we missed a lot of tables heyday and I doubt mac will be happy about the tries conceded either
