| Quote Dwayne Dibley="Dwayne Dibley"If BJB had been playing instead , and Briscoe hadn’t dropped that b*llock(and I am not scape goating him) then we may have ended with the double, but its just conjecture, seems Wigan could not win it from 2nd place or anywhere this season.
Maybe Leeds' chickens will come home to roost next season who Knows? We shall see I suppose in due course.'"
We would have lost at Huddersfield, it would have made no difference. We were the 7th worst team in the comp, that was the bottom line of our season. I suppose considering the coach, and the fact many of the players were at an end, that maybe yes we could consider that a success.

Fair enough , but in years to come no one will remember Leeds finished 7th , but will remember we won the challenge cup . If winning trophies is a measure of success then this season is a good one for sure .

This.
I guess the ultimate measure of a successful season is the trophy haul, after all that’s the goal the players and coaches set each other at the beginning of each season.Gotcha, I think your crystal ball is a bit misty give it a wipe, with a one legged Brough we stood a fair chance of a result at Huddersfield if we had progressed.

One thing is for certain, watching Wigan week in week out will be a hell of lot more entertaining than it is watching the old men plod around Headingley. Sinfield's misdemeanor was not in the same league as Flower's pfft.

Sinfield did do a big brainfart indeed but like you say, not in the same league and also in a league match. One of the most surprising things about the Flower thing was that it was in a GF. Discipline is usually squeaky clean in finals from teams, can anybody remember any bad incidents from the GF's we played against Saints that would be worthy of a yellow let alone red? Like I mentioned on another thread I think that's why Wane should shoulder some responsibility for this because he built it up like the normal Wigan/Saints hate each other derby week and that usually has a flare up or two.....GF time regardless of the opposition you've got to hit and carry like your life depended on it but at the same time keep a lid on things. Had for some reason none of the refs spotted the incident and put it on report and Flower stayed on then that game would've descended in chaos afterwards.

| Quote Gotcha="Gotcha"Same. But I also wonder how those arrogant, head in the sand Leeds fans, who continually said "meeaaahhhhh" on here, and said we we had proven we could win the GF from anywhere, realise how silly they were.
Especially considering that this year of all those years, could have been the easiest of successfull seasons,'"
Not really as we COULD'VE won it from 6th this year.....but as we've seen with other teams, regardless of where you finish you still have to turn up. Had we finished a couple of spots higher or even 1st we may not have won as we looked mentally cooked.
Like you say it could've been the easiest of the lot to win. That's exactly why I'm happier with the CC for this year. What would it really mean for some of these guys to have 7 GF rings instead of 6, or 5 instead of 4 especially when everybody would say it was the weakest competition around? Compared to finally getting ONE CC medal then in this RARE INSTANCE the CC was more significant for our club.
We beat Saints whilst they had more of a complete team, beat an in-form Warrington and beat a Cas team who might've hit a brick wall by seasons end but at the time quite a few on here were quite afraid of facing to win our trophy. Now not meaning to take away from Saints and their especially their fans if they read this because they've deserved a win finally BUT, they beat Cas when they were cooked, Catalans were similar spent by the time they went to Langtree and just got past 12 men for 78 mins. This after losing their last 2 matches to claim the LLS and relying on ourselves and Cas both throwing away our chances to top them. I dare say ours took more winning as in the race to Old Trafford all those around Saints tripped themselves up.

You need to quit with the sensible posts.
The knuckledraggers on this forum aren't interested because they are too busy calling Shaun Wane an ape.

| It was funny watching wigan win SFA while our OAP's picked up a pot, but let's just think about things. Going forward we are worse off.
Saints are looking in great shape now with their young players, the signings and the fact they've managed to win the title without their best players. Wigan, as much as last night must suck they'd have won with 13 men on the field and were the better team with 12. They have alot of great young players and like saints are guaranteed to up there again for the foreseeable. Warrington it looks have adapted well to the loss of many experienced key players, seem to have worked out their key combinations and are replacing an outgoing key player with the reigning MoS.
Where does that leave us? Next year is basically our last chance to win a title for what could be years the way things are looking.

What was it, Wigan had something like 6 missing from last year's GF whilst Saints had replaced 8 players from the 2013 squad?
Both got to the GF and Saints won the LLS.
Why do you think Leeds can't/won't do that in the next couple of years?

Because we are acting dumb, and won't make that many changes.
