It wasn't being used as a cold cure by some Rhinos players in 2004. It was being used as a matter of routine on matchdays. If you're uncomfortable with this, take it up with Keith Senior.

I haven't suggested I am uncomfortable with it, far from it, nor seemingly are Aussie RL players or their governing body.

... and I suppose that because this unsubstantiated revelation appeared in an ex-Leeds player's autobiography then it must true.
Do you believe everything you read now???

I didn't expect you to be uncomfortable with rhinos players taking ephedrine as a cold cure. Of course, it's now been established they weren't taking it as cold cure but as part of a routine on matchday, despite claiming otherwise back in 2004.

I have denied nothing, I was simply asking if you, as an individual, believed everything that was put to print?

Transparent Backgrounds/Waldorf.gif "As you travel through life don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things" - George Carlin

This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC:Transparent Backgrounds/Waldorf.gif |
|
| I'm surprised WADA could find time to deal with all these Rhinos players failing drug tests for ephedrine use, given its alleged widespread use throughout the season.
Unless of course the club were being covertly assisted by the RFL, UK Sport, the reverse vampires and the saucer people in covering up this fiendish plot.
A bit like Paul Cullen's statement a couple of years ago that drugs were rife in the game, which he very quietly backed away from when asked to put up or shut up.

Take it up with Keith Senior. That way, you get to shoot the messenger rather than attempting to shoot the messenger of the messenger and missing.

OK, let me rephrase. Do you believe that illegal substance abuse was rife among several Leeds players during the 2004 season?
If you do was this believe born from reading a certain ex-Leeds players autobiography?

I'm sorry but did you read the article? No official truth and nothing has been confirmed. The RFL refused to comment, the UKADA refused to comment and the three individuals refused to comment.
I assume the article is correct and the Journalist's prediction will come true (otherwise I doubt it would be printed) but to suggest this article is the official truth is somewhat premature.

There are several points to consider.
1. Senior and Bailey tested positive for ephedrine use in 2004.
2. They were both treated leniently and escaped lengthy bans on the basis they'd both declared it's use as a cold remedy. Other reports at the time suggest gastric flu which was doing the rounds of the GB camp in 2004.
3. Bailey's positive drugs test was immediately after the 2004 Grand Final.
4. Senior's positive result test was during the Tri Nations.
5. Senior now claims it was being taken routinely on a match day during the Rhinos 2004 season by himself and a few of the other Rhinos players, by one who wasn't detected after being drug tested on the Monday following the taking of the substance 3 days earlier on a match day. It was also taken routinely by another Rhinos player for weight loss, who also suggested it made him feel better.
Feel free to draw your own conclusions, even if that necessarily involves shooting the messenger(s).

| I would actually be more suprised if it came out that ephedrine wasn't rife in Rugby League.

| Terry Newton claimed HGH was rife in RL, I for one believe that to be true. It would be nieve to think the Rhinos are and have been completely drug free - common sense suggests that is unlikely.
On Senior - he isn't the brightest in the world but if he really wanted to sell some books he should have named the culprits.
As Jeff said the really tragedy here is Terry Newton - the most gifted youngster I have ever seen in a Leeds shirt - felt he needed to take his own life.
