The thing that bothers me most about this decision is the message it sends to kids. I coach kids and after high profile incidents they do copy them. If you remember the Graham incident where he didnt shake the Leeds players hands after the "chicken wing" tackle, on the Sunday kids did not shake hands with the opposition. Whilst I understand it is not the worst thing to happen it just sends the wrong message to the kids. And for the RFL to call it a minor misconduct just stinks of looking after super boy! What happens if an under 9 sticks his fingers up at the opposition crowd after being booed. Typical RFL sweeping things away, are they scared of losing Baby Sam to yawnion like Eastmond?

Booing a player doesn't bring a fine with it. Homophobic or racist chanting would but he's white and I believe he's straight so that shouldn't be a problem. Given that Leeds fans already call James Graham a fat ginger barsteward then there is a clear run ahead for Leeds fans to call ratboy anything they want really, so long as it's not homophobic or racist.

This is an absolute disgrace – typical no-bollox RFL. Tomkins should be banned for at least the rest of the season and into next season as well. There is no place for him in the international setup either.

He should be made to apologise to each and every Leeds fan individually and should have the offending digits removed to prevent him repeating this disgusting behaviour.

There is no place for people like him in society if you ask me.

We'd like to apologise for not ensuring that Sam Tomkins' hand didn't explode following his dreadful gesture at Wembley. We were both out of the room at the time (paying the pizza delivery guy and getting more beers in) so missed the incident on TV. We'll get him next time though. Cheats never prosper.

The RFL not banning Sam for one game does send out the wrong message to all the kids out there. However I am sure when Wigan visit Headingley next season I am sure Sam will be given a warm welcome. All we need is for the RFL to give Bentham the game with Hicks running the line and all will be complete.
