Treat it like a normal game. No need to risk anyone with a slight knock, but we need to go into the final with a bit of confidence. If you do rest people, the ones who come in need to believe that they're playing for a Wembley spot too.

Harlequins game is a guaranteed win and a training run for Leeds against whipping boys and ought to be treated as such. That means playing the team the coach expects to be lining-up at Wembley the following week.

Rest players with niggles and give Sinfield a week off.

"As you travel through life don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things" - George Carlin [url:2cg5oc2o]http://twitter.com/AndyGilder[/url:2cg5oc2o] [url:2cg5oc2o]http://fromthewesternterrace.blogspot.co.uk[/url:2cg5oc2o] This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC:Transparent Backgrounds/Waldorf.gif

Friday was the first time in a long time that Leeds looked like a side playing with belief and confidence.

There's absolutely nothing to be gained from messing around with the line-up or structure ahead of the final.

I'd be going one step further if I were in Leeds's shoes, and treating this whole week as a rehearsal for the final itself. Travel down at the same time you are going to next week, stay in the same hotel, work to the same schedule (particularly given the Quins game is also a Saturday afternoon kick-off). Preparing in this way and hopefully backing it up with a convincing performance will be ideal preparation for the weekend after IMO.

That's an excellent idea! Very impressed. Wouldn't have thought of that in a million years.

They could even do a walk around of the Stoop. icon_wink.gif

I'd be shocked if that happens, but it's a great idea and taking full advantage of the circumstances (London team, Sat pm kick off etc).

I'd have been seriously tempted to stay down there the full week and use some local training facilities. That way you can get used to the warmer climate and shake off any tricky jet lag. It could be a significant advantage in the final. By my calculations, given that the current time in London is 14:42, 15th August 2011, and assuming each time zone is 1 hour of time difference, Wigan will need to travel through 245,422 time zones to get there.

"This guy Brent Webb, hes breathtaking with ball in hand but just lets himself down with ill-disipline!" Stevo v the quins.:

Quote: thebloodbath "Yes, true. But this is the time of year Nathan Brown's bum-hole starts going 'twitch-twitch'. Anything can happen, apart from him winning anything of course.'"

After watching them on sky a few teams recently i thinked that started to happen 2 months ago.

I'm not sure that I would rest anyone to be fair. The combination of results at the weekend have left us just 3pts outside the top 4, and with Catalans playing Wire this weekend, there is a real chance of attaining 5th place this weekend, and then we have a shot at the top 4, if other results again go our way. And with the benefits that a top 4 finish can bring, if it's still a chance we should go for it with a full strength squad. That, plus the fact that I do not think that Brian Mac will disrespect his former club by fielding a weakened side this weekend, irrespective of what is coming a week later.
It only needs Salford to do us a favour this week and upset a wobbling Huddersfield, and 4th place is very much on, with the games we have left, and I think we should be full strength all the way.

I would like to see a full strength side Rhinos play this weekend at Quins, i would only leave players out that are carrying injuries, we are a side that clearly needs some momentum going into the CC final

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.:1157.jpg

If you are carrying a knock you don't play, if you are fit, you do play.

Simples....

Play a full strength team. If like last Friday, we have the game won with 20 minutes to go, take off the key players.

I wouldn't rest anyone - Laughton did it in the 90s and it was pointless, as well as making a mockery of the league game. We have only the slimmest chance to win at Wembley and that's if we can go into the final with as much confidence as possible. If anything I wish we were playing one of Wire/Sts, as even a narrow loss to one of those two would be better preparation than Quins. If we do play a relatively full-strength team at Quins and lose, my expectations for Wembley would dim even further than they are. Which is difficult.

The only thing I'd question is that whilst we may have a chance to win a one-off cup final, I've seen no evidence that we have a team capable of winning the play-offs whether from 4th to 6th place - win or lose our season looks likely to be effectively over in two weeks.

We have to go full strength, barring injury. Get some momentum and belief into a squad that has looked a bit devoid of both.
