Luckily for him Dean Lances' record will take some beating!

Personally I think he should have stepped down after the Hull game. It was obvious how they matched us in the 2nd half that it was going to be all down hill from there. At least he could have gone out on top unbeaten and maybe then taken the vacant Brisbane job.

Despite my criticism in the column this week, I’m going to reluctantly say no. If we lose against Salford then the only way is up surely?

Leeds currently find themselves alongside Saints and Huddersfield IMO, with Warrington and Wigan showing the way. If you dont perform on the day you'll get beat these days.

You must give Mcdermott the ful season.

I actually put Huddersfield in that top category. Nathan Brown is the best coach in the league IMO and knows how to get the best out of that team. Anyway, all this talk about getting rid of a coach who has had to do a job missing several key players (yes, I appreciate that some of it is down to game plan ect.) after just 5 games is ridiculous! At this moment in time I believe we have the same record as this time last year, and look how close we got then. Some people need to reel themselves in and get a grip IMO. And also personel wise there are 4 or 5 teams that are pretty similar this year, so even if we don't win anything so what! It's sport! There are 13 other teams trying to reach the same goal as us. Just because we are Leeds it doesn't give us the Devine right to win every year.

I do wonder how Brian McDermott fairs against Royce Simmons, Rob Powell and Mick Potter who are also at new clubs this term. Whilst it isn’t Leeds divine right to win it every year – It should be the fans divine right to express an opinion. The only person that needs to get a grip is Brian McDermott and not the fans.

I think that the concerns that have been expressed by people on here are genuine and are not the closed minded opinions that you make out they are. These opinions have been shaped over much longer than the four super league games that Brian McDermott has been in charge. In the pre-season everyone was willing to give him a chance and I’m afraid that each game Leeds loses hereon in will be another nail in the coffin of McDermott’s coaching career.

Is that the preseason where we crushed the 2 teams we played? Only idiotic morons would think about canning a coach when he hasn't even had time to set his stall out. I bet if Wigan had lost Sam, Leuluai, Joel, 3 props at once and Hansen they would have struggled slightly too and I doubt they would have drawn against Saints. The other Saints would have murdered them in the WCC too. At the weekend we will be without 4 props and a LF. How exactly can you plan for that as a coach. In Peacock and Kylie you are down by 250m extra go forward to start with. Then you have players doing extra defensive work than they are used to and this brings extra fatigue where tackles are then missed and breaks occur. You have an inexperienced right hand side that has maybe 30 or so games between them yet they are expected to be superstars. They look good with ball in hand but it takes time for them to settle in defensively.

There's too many factors going on at the moment to just blame it on the coaching staff. Ask me in November what I thought about how McDermott but until then it's unfair to pass judgement.

Bang on J ,some of the reaction to losing a couple of games is way OTT.
Of course everyone has a right to their opinions and we all feel it when we lose but suggesting the Coaches should be ditched ,the Season is over and GH has taken the cheap option after 4wks is ridiculous FFs.

What a load of rubbish

Wigan would never have capitulated to Harlequins in the way we did no matter who played!!

Where do get 250m lost - whoever plays at prop will make some yardage - from a kick off to start.
When did Kylie ever do sufficient defensive stuff that him not playing will put extra pressure on his team mates!! he misses more tackles than anyone, him not playing should make it easier. One the right hand side you have Smith and Watkins - a few more than 30 games between them.

Compare our attacking structure to that of the Dragons - every play the Dragons made was planned every player knew where he should be to execute the play - the Rhinos on the other hand make it up as the go along!!

I am not suggesting McDermott should go but what I have seen this year is no different to last - makes you wonder about player power? mistake ridden/cluless attack and a defence that is an embarrassment to a top side.

Never mind the coach the players need to take a look in the mirror and ask themselves whether their performances justify being selected or whether some are living on past deeds?

No. Not even if we lose to Salford, then Saints, the Wakefield, then Wigan. He needs AT LEAST this entire season.

The people calling for his head after 4 games (2 of which we've won FFS!) are the definition of moronic and are seriously embarrassing the Leeds fans, and Rugby League fans in general. Jesus, the guy hasn't even got the pick of the previous coach's team, never mind had the opportunity to build his own team.

Things people seem to have forgotten;

1 - The Warrington side that totally outclassed us, also totally outclassed Saints the week before. Is Simmons getting sacked too? Is it possible that perhaps it's ok to lose to the odd match when you're outplayed by a better team?

2 - Brian has been forced into making most of the decisions he's had to make. Would he prefer to have Sinfield boosting the weight of the pack, and sharing the attacking/decision making workload with McGuire? I'm sure he would. Would he prefer to be able to leave Kirke out to make him work harder and prove himself to earn his place instead of having to force him to play prop? I'm sure he would. But unfortunately for him (and us) he simply hasn't been in a situation to do that.

3 - The decisions that Brian has made (that he hasn't been forced into) include having the guts to play BJB & Watkins as a combo (looked impressive against the Bulls), moving Delaney into the second row (which also looked to be working), and playing Buderus for 80 minutes (THANK GOD!).

4 - Despite one of our most attacking & creative players been injured, another playing out of position, AND missing any sort of weight in the pack to allow our backs time & space to be creative... we're STILL top of the tries scored chart.

5 - Before this season started, people were all saying how happy they were to accept this as a bit of a transition year, and how we shouldn't be expecting much from this year, and how if we're at least competing for honours come the business end of the season we should see that as a success. Well here we are, transitioning. Trying new players (some forced due to injuries, some experimental), trying new things, making a few mistakes, and hopefully learning from them. We're no where near the business end of the season, so how can we judge whether or not we're competing, and thus whether or not this season has been a success? We can't.

Exactly. The idea that the players or coaching staff cannot have their performances continually reviewed, simply shows how out of touch the Uber Believest are with reality.

Produce results and receive praise....fail to produce results, and questions will be asked!

A simple enough concept I would have thought, even for the more cerebrally challenged amongst their ranks.

This topic makes me laugh

it feels quite nice to have a side thats struggling, it sorts the wheat from the chaff in terms of fans and shows who is willing to get behind the team. Those calling for Big Mac's head should count themselves lucky as the team in 95/96 would have made you suicidal
