Is it against the rules? No
So it should be looked at in the close season for a rule change as it is a deliberate holding onto the defending tackler to gain the penalty. It could be classed as the same as 'holding down' but the opposite

He is allowed to politely ask the referee for clarification on a call.
Not sure he passed that test and was fortunate to not concede an extra ten.
The players need to be careful with their questioning of the official's calls. Sinfield included.

Completely agree but i'm sure sinny saw the footage of the abuse Alibert took off Saints the other week so knew he would be ok!  |
