Quote Charlieboo="Charlieboo"Totally agree. Nobody should be selling these for profits. It does say on the listing that 'a percentage of the final sale price will go to charity' but this isn't good enough.
All the money should go to Cancer Research.'"
That has just been added today at 11.55 - glad to see someone at the club has a conscience after reading this.
But I agree, its still not good enough, these are player issue shirts, they will command a premium from collectors and someone within the club is selling them at that premium using the club's bank account to collect the money.
Given the original stimulus for this special edition shirt was the untimely death from cancer of one of the clubs best and most popular servants, given that the whole advertising campaign around this shirt was to promote mens health and cancer concerns specifically (or so they said) then the very least that should happen is that the whole of the proceeds should be donated to a suitable charity in the name of John Holmes rather than an individual at the club (or the club as a business) profiteering.
There is a well defined route to take on eBay so that all of us can be absolutely certain that this is happening and I've already highlighted that route - the addition of the comment on that eBay listing at 11.55 this morning simply highlights the fact that the initial listings were for personal profit only and that the main concern is still for personal profit with an undefined amount begrudgingly given to a charity.
Frankly I'm ashamed that the club I have supported since 1966 should stoop so low.
