| Quote DHM="DHM"You could say soemthing similar about half your squad, except Lee Briers and co don't have a GF win between them so technically don't have any "past exploits" to be over the hill from (apart from Morley of course). JJB is as good as any second row in the competition still, McGuire was our player of the year last year and absolutely outstanding - would you replace your player of the year? Peacock, when fully recovered will be more effective than any front rower you have and Webb is more than a match for the pensioner you have at FB. Buderus is going, Senior is going and we have prelacements for both. So your point is?'"
Look at the league table - what happened two years ago has no bearing on today

I doubt GH expected McDermott to be a complete dud at the time he appointed him.

What was the general consensus from the fans when he got the job?

Dreamland
JJB is a penalty machine who tries hard but he is no Puletua that is for sure
Would you have Briers or McGuire on current form - get real
Peacock - finished he was terrible today and his knock on killed the momentum - he should have been pensioned off.
Who is Buderus replacement, who is Senior's replacement?

Doubt. But then I can't recall us ever being positive over a new coach.
We're fans, not professionals or experts in the sport - quite the opposite in fact.

Wrong - both McDermott and Hetherington knew it would be bad and expected McClennan to take the blame - sadly for both of them McClennan - as he always was - was far too clever for Hetherington, knew he was being set up for a fall and legged it.

It's current form thought Dave. How long does "current" last.
Peackock is still not at full fitness and will get better.
McShane and Watkins.
