| Was the number of season tickets sold ever announced? I know in good years, we get an announcement in Feb of "12k season tickets have been sold ....", and in poorer years we get more like "Sales of season tickets are ahead of projections.."

I have considered this and I am with Mr Hetherington. Screw you Gilderdale. If you want to come, pay the price but I am not jeopardizing the income I generate from my 10,000 season ticket holders and the 17,000 on average who do attend just to charge a price that might suit you to attend the odd game at some point dependant upon TV coverage and rain.'"
Unfortunately thats the attitude of a static company and unfortunately it doens't take very long for a static company to be a declining company, especially in times of recession, indeed if I could only be @rsed to find that RLFans statto page I'm sure we'd see the Leeds average is down on last year already, you can argue the "like for like" angle but 13k for Warrington is number thats going backwards.
Marketing and selling to customers is all about innovation but sometimes just plain thinking, supermarkets do it superbly well - at what point do you think Ken Morrison sat down and wrote "Memo to Marketing Dept - we have enough customers now, screw the rest who won't come in" ?
LATE EDIT - Have found the RLFans statto page - average attendance for this season is now below 13k, personally I'd be worried if I were supposed to be marketing this club.

I assume that the RLFans numbers include away attendances although how the hell that works I don't know but the home attendances for this season have hit some new recent lows though, I'd still be worried if I was supposed to be marketing the club because as I said before, they're painted into a corner regarding any ticket discounting options.

Don't forget holidays.
There are always reasons but Warrington was an attractive looking fixture going in. What would the crowd have been if it were a Celtic, Salford or Harlequins visiting? Shudder.

| A lot of rhetorick and no specirfics there Mr Field.
Gilderdale came up with a viable alternative suggestion that would not alienate the clubs core customer base and its' most important incoem stream, season ticket holders.
I'd guess most clubs (with a few exceptions) are suffering a decline in attendances in the current ecomnomic climate.

Yeah, could have seen a record low since the dean bell days.. i wonder if there's any truth in some people saying like the cup, supporters hold back slightly until the playoffs/finals near... wrong i know, but success can breed contempt..
I blame the recession more than anything personally which leads to supporters being more picky about their games i'e fair weather and not on sky etc

Like I said, they're painted into a corner, any reduction at the turnstiles for the last few games of the season would immediately impact on those who bought season tickets, what was the "saving" this season, two games ?
Reducing walk-up prices is the only real incentive to the "floating voters" but that has to be done as a whole-season plan, there's certainly a very valid argument now for charging (say) £17 for the Western Terrace as a standard, not as an offer, you get covered seating for that at Wigan.
There always has been a "half season" ticket in previous years, don't recall the advertising for it this year though, it offered a one game discount, unfortunatley it covered the august summer holiday period where one game is easily lost.
So I'll go back to my family ticket idea - a family of two adults and two u16's for £40, under cover in the paddock (s) or the Carnegie standing terrace - sell 250 of those and you instantly up the attendance by 1000 - and you spend inside the ground will appreciate by another £40 per family if my experiences were anything to go by - they are a fantastic target to aim at and nothing on the club web site suggests that they do anythign about it - unfortunately they've missed the best way to market to this group until the schools return in September but they are the group I'd target via the EP right now, this week.

| Once the ground has more seating (with a new Southstand) they're going to have to work harder to sell that seating.
Also, when considering marketing you have to think of your brand image.
They want the Rhinos match day to be exciting, vibrant, youthful and trendy.
You, Gilderdale and Batley Rhino just don't fit the demographic i am afraid. Me and El Barbudo really rock the North Stand.
Perhaps you'd find a better fit at Post Office road with the Pensioner?

| I wonder what the club's break-even point is?
Despite attendances being lower (due in my view to 2 things, the recession and, specifically on Saturday, the weather) the club may still be reaqltively satisfied.
Imagine how they'd feel though if they were Bradford whose attendances are now lower than Cas or the Dragons. (On the basis of last week's game at least.)
However, I do think that there is merit in looking at the Family ticket but the Club would say kids can come for an entire season for a very small amount, can't recall what it is. Still something that most places now do so worth pursuing.

An thereby alienating all the people who attend who don't have children. Why should they "subsidise" those with families?

Why should you "subsidise" them on public transport, cinemas, theme parks, museums, swimming pools, etc etc etc
Why should you subsidise pensioners and students in the same and many other places.
Why should you pay pensioners and students not to work, why should you subsidise sick people to be healed on the NHS, why should you subsidise road building if you don't drive, why should you pay for an army when you don't like Afghanistan as a holiday destination anyway ?
In fact, why shouldn't you just keep all your money and not pay any taxes at all ?
