Am sure they signed ET twice? When Doug Laughton took over it was all out to dethroning Wigan. He had come close at Widnes and with the money Leeds were throwing at him Doug thought it was christmas every day. He more or less signed all the Widnes team and with that he bought players that were coming to the end of their careers and after one final pay day. Doug and Leeds failed miserably and we just went from strength to strength, quite a costly mistaken and bitter pill for the Leeds board to take at the time.

But what of it? 1st time as a young unknown replacement the 2nd time because he missed out on Kangaroo Tour selection and he came to try and prove the selectors wrong, which they weren't at that time in any case. Good fortune for Leeds but both times for a short mid-season stint before he had gained an Australian cap. Not a big signing, not even a proper signing really, more like a player gaining experience on a working holiday during his close season back home.




More or less? That would be less than - Alan Tait, Richie Eyres, Esene Faimalo, Harvey Howard and Mike O'Neill at various stages of their careers and all for a combined total less than Wigan paid Widnes for one player.

As for comparative costs. One club managed to keep hold of their world famous ancestral home while Wigan were evicted from and forced to sacrifice theirs.
