| Are you going to pay a transfer fee for Griffin ?? Apparently Griff thought we would let him go and he got £25k a season more from you... but he is still on contract (end 2012)and a 'source' from the club says he misunderstood when he approached you in thinking that we would not require a 'fee' !! Silly lad !!!
Would you pay one ?? An England international prop ?? mmm £50k..£100k ?? or i'd sweat him in the under 20's interesting to see the outcome...

Who is your source? Name your source or otherwise your post should be regarded as a mindless troll.

| He's worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for him.
Given he's pretty much burned his bridges at the Giants and would walk away at the end of 2012 for nothing anyway, I'd say that's not a lot.
£25k tops.

| Leeds appear to have backed themselves into a corner a little with regard to Props for next season. Two have left this season so far, for various reasons some more predictable than others, and we have two out on loan who still have a lot to prove. Ryan Bailey is OoC, and no announcement has been made about his retention, yet Kirke has already been retained.
So what is Griffin worth with the above in mind? I don't know the figure, but it's certainly more than it would have been if we had planned for this and next season a little better than we did.

| On present form Darrell Griffin is worth a minimum of a contract extension for Ryan Bailey.
Bailey is so infuriating though. Consistently impressive when coming out of contract and equally consistently unimpressive after re-signing. What gives?

Sportsman in "more motivated when he thinks his job is on the line" shocker.

| Well if Danny Buderus is worth A$ 150,000, for one season back home (Leeds asking price), Joe Westerman £175,000 and Griffin is a recent international in a game devoid of lots of decent English props its an interesting conundrum !!
For what its worth I would let him go if you make a decent enough offer but be warned signing for you and thinking he can walk away from his contract is typical !!
All this came about because he had a new tattoo before the wakey match it got infected and he had to withdraw.... after being called unprofessional he took his bat and ball home and went to see if he could get a contract elsewhere and this isn't the first time he has nearly gone !!! Brains and Griff don't usually appear in the same sentence...

What you ask for and what you get are often two different things.
If Huddersfield are genuinely not enamoured with Griffin, why would they want him sat in the stands for the whole of next season only to have him walk away for nothing at the end of it.
Cash in now, take what you can get and shift him off your salary cap so you can replace him.
The fee paid for Westerman is a complete red herring. Hull got fleeced senseless on that one.

Why would anyone want to sign a brainy Prop Forward? Absence of brains is part of the job-description even before all the hits to the head they get. It's not as if they're going to end up being coaches. Oh, wait.

If they want to go into coaching their playing career needs to be preceded by getting punched in the face a lot as an amateur boxer. Helps soften up the brain tissue. Like tenderising a pork chop.

| He's a decent enough player.. but doesn't like criticism even if constructive tends to go walkabout till he's happy again...
If McDermotts got a 'kid glove' approach he'll be fine but if he's not fireworks will ensue at some point with Griff tucking his bat under his arm and sulking off home.....
As a previous poster said i can't see how we can or would want to keep him.... but if we free up his cap and get a fee we can get a damn good replacement maybe then good business all around...... but we can't set a precedent that anyone who wants to negotiate a new club can do so and walk out still contracted for nothing would you ??
