Quote: Oldham Rhino "Yeah I went to that as well. And noted the away fans were more interested in chanting how much they hated the home team than actually getting behind their own team.

Next.'"

Had to read that twice . Thought you were meaning the Wrexham game .
Was going to ask which team was playing at home that day . Didn't we both travel a similar distance for that game ?

Can of worms opened .

Quote: Era of the Biff "If we get done so what. These fans of other clubs make me laugh running telling tales.

They cant beat us on the field so they have to try and beat us off it. Those who have written into the league express need a good slap.'"

So..... writing a letter into the league express or league weekly (content checked independently by the paper before publishing) to voice an opinion that differs to a belief or opinion of your own means that person
'needs a good slap' eusa_wall.gif
I read many letters i disagree with on a regular basis but respect the fact it is another persons view and accept we live in a society of free speach.
The paper has published the volume of letters it has this week due to the proportionate number of same or similar letters recieved from both Tiger fans and other fans of clubs within the r.l community and due to the fact this was one of the headlines of the week (all be it for all the wrong reasons).
Sorry you feel these letters are not to your taste as they highlight issues involving your club/fans - as with the Tigers you were unfortunate, to be in the position of being live on sky at the end of a week with a major announcement regarding supporters behavour and verbal abuse the reaction/response of other fans was always going to come under scrutiny regardless if it came from Leeds or Warrington ect.
The issue has opened a wider debate and brings into question the behavour of fans in general - from vebal abuse, both fans of the Tigers and Leeds regarding throwing of bottles onto the field of play, Salford fans throwing live flares at opposition players, fighting and intimidation of fans on and off the field to give a few examples. However the manner and fairness of the punishment handed out in comparison to other events does bring into question the validity of the decision (specificaly due to reports of the same abuse directed at the player at both Bradford and Wakefield)
I myself have not sent a letter or e-mail to the papers or the RFL (i do not wish to see Leeds as a club fined and can understand the reaction of the Leeds fans to the complaints being made (it looks in appearance to be petty and fans looking at some where else to point the finger) - i have no ill feeling to the Leeds club and in many ways have a great respect for the proffesional way your club is run.
I do not condone the behavour of the of the (so called) Tiger fans in question (the whole handfull of them) and do feel although the club could not have prevented the behaviour/chanting as it occured, a more concerted effort should have been seen publicaly in the aftermath of the events.
As for your statement refering to people 'needing a good slap' - pathetic comment from a coward sat behind a computer who would probably struggle to kick his own icon_ass.gif - grow up c020.gif

'needs a good slap' Firstly the majority of the letters are just whinging and giving the "we were hard done" approach and the rest were just an excuse to chelp about Leeds without actually mentioning that the Saints end was chanting plenty of obscene things directed at Ryan Bailey.
The authors fail to mention previous warnings issued and the small fact that homophobic chants etc are ILLEGAL!

Given the output of the thread on the topic on the Castleford forum I'd be very surprised if the authors realised the legality of the situation - there are some real dunderheads in that thread.

Nice to see you are unable to respond to the points made or at least declined to do so through having a greater interest in threats and childish banter (it was put in that way expecting exactly that kind of response) icon_thumb.gif

Firstly, if you are responding directly to me, deal with the the points i raise to coment on rather than your opinions or comments of other posts/letters.
Second, i highlighted examples of various issues relating to the general behaviour of r.l fans, i didnt try to document each individual case for scrutiny.
Third, i have said nothing in a negative manner towards your club, if anything my comments could be described as complimentary.
Fourth, several clubs have received previous warnings and have either offended again on both the same and different issues - the point being brought into question is the RFL's consistency in dealing with these issues and the fairness of the punishment handed out.
To give a similar example of this i questioned the punishment recieved by both the Leeds club (throwing bottles onto the field of play) or the Salford club (throwing live flares directly at opposition players) on previous visits to the Jungle, for that matter the failure of the Castleford club to control the crowd during these incidents. Certainly not the fine or punishment imposed on the Castleford club after the Catalan game.
Finally, many (certainly not i) question the legality of Homophobic chanting. The simple fact is this is not an issue being dealt with by the courts and people are questioning the RFL's ability to handle the issue in a fair manner.
Are we now saying to our children (the next generation of fans) it is wrong to abuse people on the basis of there sexual orientation or colour of there skin, but it is acceptable to abuse people for being fat, ginger, bald ect ?
(regardless of the legal issues here, this kind of abuse ruins peoples lives specificaly the young, some who have committed suicide or caused themselves serious illness to try counter this type of abuse).
My own opinion be the Castleford club to a certain degree got what they deserved for there handling of the incident however the club has carried out several improvements to combat the problems both they and other clubs face after the Catalan incident and feel the fine is more of a statment/reaction to the level of press interest Mr Thomas and his agent have created (i do not condone in any way the chanting that was directed at the player and am ashamed of the fact my club has been dragged through the dirt due to it, i will however leave open to scrutiny/opinion his reasons for raising the point with anyone who will give the time to listen and find it astonishing that a person can state they were made to feel ''scared'' when on a rugby field surrounded by team mates, with police and stewards present and a minute later they acknowledge the fact the abuse was carried out by a small group of teens and other than them the people he came into contact with were some of the nicest people he has met).

Says a lot in itself if you can judge and respond to a post without reading it !

Bless your sensitive soul. Threats
Sure my partner would agree sensitivity is not one of my strong points but must admit im becoming touched by all your blessings, sorry if i just dont like the fact some people revert to aggresive or threatening comments due to not having the intelligence to discuss an issue like an adult.

I will not bother you again (i fear im only wasting my time and energy) !
