| Gary Schofield not happy,
‘Rohan might have been around quite a few NRL teams, but his experience in charge of a club is limited to spells at Bradford and Norths Devils.
There’s nothing wrong with either the Championship or the Queensland Cup, but neither are Super League with all the pressure that comes with running a team at that level, and where is that “experience and seniority”?
Rohan doesn’t have the pedigree for a job like this.
Leeds need a very steady hand at the tiller to steer them away from the danger zone and get things back on an even keel.
It’s not the time to appoint a rookie – and why on a contract until 2025? He must think all his Christmases have come at once.’

The irony - a person who was happy to take a coaching role with zero experience - couldn't even be bothered to take the coaching badges. Smith is an experienced coach at a good level who will hopefully bring a breath of fresh air and get everyone looking forward rather than over their shoulder to the past.

Agreed - who would he suggest John Kear or Tim Sheens?

We would have to have the doors widen so he could get through

Yeah but for the right reasons, too much personal upheaval family wise etc so decided against it.

| Only time will tell if Schoey is right. Difficult to see a better and realistic alternative to Rohan Smith really i think.
It may or may not work but thats the case with any appointment.

| Jon Wilkin made a similar argument on Sky when Rohan Smith was announced - basically to the effect that he is not an experienced first team coach as GH indicated we were getting.
Jon Wilkin has also been critical of the Hardaker signing.
While I can see his points on both issues, for some reason I can't get the image out of my head of Daniel Anderson giving Wilkin and his teammates the rounds of the kitchen during half-time at the 2008 GF... Wilkin does still seem to have a major chip on his shoulder about those GF losses back in the day.

I also remember him being upset about our celebrations when we scored. too much "whooping" apparently. For what it's worth I agree with most of what he said re Hardaker but I think the comments about Rohan Smith were needless.

Im not sure i give two penneths worth what John Willin has to say to be honest.
Did he think Justin Holbrook was too inexperienced, or Tony Smith or Brian Mcdermott or Bluey for that matter when they were coaching leeds to all those GF wins against him and his team?
He’s becoming a rent a gob on a stick.

Completely agree. He'd argue black was white if he thought it would keep him in his TV gig.

| Every time he opens his mouth his head is stuck at Old Trafford on a rainy October night a decade or more ago.
Don't be offended when Wilkin is critical of Leeds. Just rejoice at what made him that way.
