If he likes 'facts' as you state I'd imagine he's hardly likely to accept someone's opinion in their place.

| Quote: Harrigan "He's just been very unlucky. He has all the potential to be the best centre we have ever produced, IF he can stay on the field. At only 21 though he has plenty of time to rectify this and hopefully in a few years time people will forget he was ever injury prone in the same way that we have about JJB.
On another note though... I hope when he does come back, we get the ball to him more that 2 times a game. He makes easy metres every time he touches the ball and I really dislike the fact Hardaker seems to get the ball at least 5 times to Watkins 1.'"
I strongly believe that centres should double up, especially around the 3rd, 4th and 5th tackle. Moving the ball to two quick guys who can give or go the length of the pitch can cause chaos. I would have Watkins go wide left inside Hardaker several times in a match and vice versa - particuarly in our 22 when the defending team rushes and tries to bottle up the play in one half of the pitch. Iro and Innes would regularly cause havok attacking on the same side of the pitch from our 22. We scored lots of tries from deep that way with those two. Watkins and Hardaker can both go the length of the pitch if put away - and it's not like we have slouches on the wing.
If we seem only capable of moving the ball left then having Watkins popping up unnanounced would confuse pre-planned defensive patterns quite nicely.

Surely he would, when he keeps stating his own and putting in FACT?

| Quote: Andy Gilder "And what percentage has Senior missed in the same period tvoc - just to demonstrate that statistics really can be used to show whatever you want them to?'"
2010:
Senior missed 1 of a possible 35 = 3%
Watkins missed 29 of a possible 35 = 83%
2011:
Senior missed 20 of a possible 36 = 56%
Watkins missed 19 of a possible 36 = 53%
Difficult to take the comparison beyond 2011 IMO as Senior doesn't appear to be contracted to any club.
2012:
Watkins has so far missed 7 of a possible 18 = 39%
(Assuming the latest prognosis proves accurate he will have missed 11 of the opening 22 = 50%)

| That reply has just ruined my next post in your defence. Fact.
On review of this thread I've seen plenty of Middleton's opinion and a couple of 'true stories' but no facts.

Senior is a complete Legend but so is Barrie Mc imo and i wouldn't re-sign Barrie either time to move on.'"
Barrie McDermott had a long career spent entirely at the 'coal face', retired more than five seasons ago, will be forty in less than a couple of months, probably has worn out elbows and I'd still semi-seriously suggest he'd offer more than one or two of his replacements.
__________
Returning to Senior - the Menzies analogy works best for me. Two absolute machines.
Senior could well be finished but I don't know that as I suspect neither does anyone else on here.

| Menzies was used very sparingly in his last couple of seasons at Manly and is a "one off" rather than the norm.
Senior was way past his best pre-injury and imo there's no way whatsoever he'll come back better than he was when it happened and for me he's not worth it.

It appears to me the norm for Leeds' recent season ending knee injury casualties is one of making good enough recoveries to continue their rugby careers. Diskin, Peacock and McGuire are all still out there earning a crust at SL level.
The only exception to the good recovery rule is ironically Watkins although in his case it appears a succession of injuries all over his frame rather than specific to the original knee reconstruction.
Menzies is a freak but IMO so is Senior. If he puts his hand up and I've no idea if he has or if he will I'd still like to see what he has to offer (if anything) in 2012.
