Rhinos Comfortably Win Scrappy Encounter With the GiantsTwo sides having disappointing seasons got round nineteen underway on Thursday night as the Leeds Rhinos travelled the short distance don the M62 to take on the Huddersfield Giants as ninth hosted seventh with play-off places now close to disappearing out of sight for both outfits. The Giants had won the last two meetings between the two sides, including their 30-24 win earlier this season at Headingley and the Rhinos had not taken the points away from the John Smith’s stadium for almost five years, their last win there in August 2019. The Rhinos had been made favourites with the bookies before the first ball was kicked, the home side with a four-point start on the coupon but it was an essential game for both sides. The former is your opinion, I have a different one. The latter I might be minded to agree on. Nevertheless, you can only play what is in front you.

| Much improved second half (albeit against poor opposition) the intention with the defensive line speed, contact and carries by the forwards is getting better in the right areas. Millar much better for playing more simple and to his strengths, frawley is a different player under Arthur. Croft is a concern he just seems to lack k the confidence to find the right pass at the moment. I hope oledszki is ok lisone 3 games I reckon.

| BA certainly knows the game. Whether we have the quality in depth to execute we will see. But be under no illusion BA understands what needs to be done.

| Better intent , trying to play RL properly.
Hudds really poor.
When the cameras go on Arthur in the game , it reminds me of my Grandad with his most severe constipation.

| Hello Whinos,
I attended tonight’s game looking to watch some quality RL, as a Wakefield fan it’s been hard to come by in recent years.
Before any of you jump down my throat, I came away £210 up from the winning score line so not bitter in anyway.
I was just looking to understand the two big calls from a fans point of view.
Lisone big right forearm/elbow and the Handley try after been sent up as no try.
Both imo played an influential part in the game and had the calls gone another way could’ve seen a completely different score line.

| Much better performance all round.
Frawley very good and I thought Miller might have edged MOM despite him bottling it for their try.
Forwards running harder and more direct which is what we have been asking for all season.
Whilst Lisone lead with the forearm I though initial contact was with the chest.
Had his forearm made contact with the players head he would have still been unconscious now.
Most players have the ball under their arm that goes into the face of the tackler.
Griffiths getting his hattrick of poor calls no surprise there.

If you watch the playback properly for Handley`s try it`s a cocks hair gap between his heel and the touchline.
Right decision to award the try.
Have seen players sent off for what Lisone did.
But my previous post I reckon he connects with the players chest.
Depends if we can get the Morgan Knowles solicitor to defend it.

| i get that its better and i get that people want to point out Miller and Frawley are doing better but they both do awful things and are not the answer medium to long term .
Watch the first half again it really was dreadful and against nearly any other team we would be miles behind .
The Ref was truly shocking

Don't be ridiculous , Midgets were so poor they would not have won that game in a million years

| I wouldn’t be surprised if Lisone got a ban but the big tell for me was the Hudds players didn’t react, so maybe it’s a case of it looked worse and the first contact was ok.
I get people saying it’s not an improvement, Hudds are crap etc. But even if you don’t want to call it improvement there’s a clear change in approach and a difference under Arthur. Especially defensively in a very short period of time.

Defense was more aggressive but notably less miracle plays that invariably don't come off. Just simple RL won is the game and a bit of luck maybe. Attack not gelling yet but showing signs

Anybody who says that isn't an improvement, and a big one, are just determined to find the negative. Absolutely hammered Hudds in defence from first minute to last. When was the last time we did that? Credit to Arthur for getting the pack to play like a pack for the first time in who knows when? That's not to say there wasn't frustrating clunkiness elsewhere (and doesn't the coaches face show it) but the clunk didn't cost us the game because the mistakes were not occuring coming off our line. Thought Martin and "the Frawlster" were both very good. Job well done.
