| I dunno mate it's complicated isn't it? A red card within the first 5 mins is a far bigger punishment than a red card with 5 minutes to go. Equally a red card in a final is way more significant than in a league game.
I'd like us to move away from these broad brush punishments. Sending players from the field shouldn't be the standard response to any infringements - fines are another. I think we need a more sophisticated and consistent process for administering the rules. How the hell Lisone is a 3 match ban is beyond me, when I've seen far more dangerous/intended tackles go unpunished or punished less. The only thing I can imagine is that Minchella had some player testimony or something and reported being whacked hard from behind, I don't know.

| It shouldn't have made any difference, but Smith's post match interview on Sky accusing the HKR players of play acting may not have helped.

| I certainly don't envy them for having to take all these factors into consideration. They also use the mouth guard data to determine the force of the impact, so although it was given as low force on the field, the mouth guard data may contradict the original assessment.

To be fair, Smith did clarify his comments in the press conference, but I don't know if that was factored into the judgement.

| His ten mins in the sin bin possibly cost Leeds the game, that's a reasonable punishment in itself. If force has been proven, a ban is fair enough but... It just seems disproportionate from what we've all seen, and disproportionate relative to other incidents (I keep recalling Harry Smith driving another player's head and neck into the ground and getting away with it).

| Asiata just got binned after 40 seconds for tackling round the ankles its getting completely ridiculous.
All Saints players ran in probably supporting Smiths point about play acting.

| He dived to do a low tackle, tried wrapping the arms but missed the tackle, made contact with him but his reputation went against him, ref said it was reckless which it wasn’t.
Any other player wouldn’t have got a yellow

| Just seen it, correctly given a yellow going by the Goldilocks handbook of tackles, not too high, not too low, but just right! They're going to have to draw a target area on the shirts/shorts to make it clear where you can tackle.

It was above the knee. Expect Hurrell to get a 2 match ban, and Dwyer was never a yellow. I'm lost in what these officials are trying to achieve apart from making sure Saints and Wigan are playing for the trophies. I thought we well (just about) under the conditions.

| I've just seen it. The reaction from the Saints players didn't help him. Although, it didn't look like Asiata tried to wrap his arms, potentially making it a shoulder charge? The Saints player is lucky his leg wasn't planted when Asitasi made contact, he could have snapped his leg.

Except it was on the knee, as Mata’utia clearly had markings in the subsequent set. Just because you’re parroting your esteemed leader doesn’t make it true. It was everything that was reckless and dangerous about the tackles last year (low body position, no sight on the contact as he was looking the wrong way, and despite what has been claimed there was no attempt to wrap the arms). About his only defence was he didn’t have both feet off the floor and that’s only because his body position was so low one of his calves was dragging on the floor. The Saints reaction is exactly what he was going for given Paasi is still months away from recovery.
Moreover, the fact he did it in the first tackle of the game makes it clear he was trying to be the clever pantomime villain. Didn’t work out too clever for him.

If Asiata doesn't receive a ban, then you're talking bs, which I think you are. If he does I will now apologise in advance. What's your opinion on Hurrells clash of heads?
