| The problem is that even if we play ok vs Salford, it does not fix the issue i.e. playing ok once every other match or worse. I don't want to see the flat, lack of effort and attitude we got in the Hull game more than 2-3 times a year and we have already seen it at least 3 times this season in 5 matches.
I can accept the Wanky loss with the effort and heart we gave. I can't accept the Wigan, Catalans and Hull efforts. Agar for me should be gone now but from now on I expect the effort we made against Wanky week in, week out. One more half hearted performance like Wigan, Catalans and Hull, should absolutely 100% be the end for him.

Im not usually one for rehiring past coaches but could he be just what we need?
Doubt he’ll leave Hull KR though, much less pressure on him

| Iv been convinced for months the plan has been for Smith to come back for next season with Agar DOR, could just be 2+2=5 on my behalf, but everything just seemed to point towards it imo.
Working relationships
Contract status
What coaching traits/expierience our young squad needs
Obviously, if our terrible start continues, best laid plans, if indeed that was the plan, could need altering.

It`s funny as someone asked me who we could get and I said I wouldn`t mind us getting Tony Smith for a couple of years and see what comes up in Australia.
Do you know we are trying to get him or is it tongue in cheek Jack?

| I'm not joking. I think it would be a great appointment. I feel like we need someone like him who will make players accountable and drive up standards.

| I think one of the biggest qualities of smith is his ability to balance having standards and expectations whilst also being a great man manager/likeable guy and getting the players enjoying playing the game. Ive been on lots of coaching courses, retreats and conferences with many professional coaches and his stood out as being by far the most insightful and progressive.

| I doubt Agar would object to Smith returning as head coach if he moves upstairs and would probably advocate it.
Especially as its well known they were (are still ?) personal friends.

| I reckon he's too savvy to fall for the bait. Leeds as a club has a very different feel to the one he led first time round. There's a good chance any new coach would be on a massive hiding to nothing. Our best chance lies with attracting someone wanting to make a mark rather than someone who's seen it all and probably doesn't need the hassle.

| As I understand it Leeds spoke to Smith after sacking Furner, I’m led to believe Smith approached Leeds.
This was when Smith was out of work before He joined Hull KR.
I’d have gladly had him back then whether he would want it now who knows.
He would seem a good choice to me, in that if anyone can help get the most of young players he can and we need that badly in next 3 years.
Believe he is out of contract at end of this year. Agar played squash against Smith in The past but I have to say I’m a bit out of touch.

| I doubt he'd want to come back to the current basket case. Not going to him after Furner is another of those 'what if?' questions there seem to be so many of over the last few years....
The problem is it feels like the club needs yet another root and branch reboot, as while he did some good things around culture and helped make a few good signings, Sinfield has left us with a lot of poor appointments in the most senior roles and a squad that while not as bad as performances would suggest is probably further from competing with Sts than most of us thought.
Whoever the next coach is should come from outside the club and be free to hire whoever they want as assistants. Its a huge ask for someone to come in mid-season into a demoralised club and turn things around without money for signings. There's also a risk we'll get lumbered with a long-term dud coach just like Agar seems to have become.

| I’d love Smith back at Leeds. Superb coach and levels above Agar.

I agree with some of this but Smith went to HKR when they were in a right state and in part worked with a job lot of young players signed from Bradford. I think he is still renting a house in Hull, a move to Leeds would let him move home to near Huddersfield and if these young players are as as good as some think, (i’m Not convinced yet) it would seem a good fit. I don’t think fans would expect quick miracles but his teams play exciting football and I’m bored to death watching this.
I reckon any wire fan would say they played most exciting stuff they have ever watched under smith, I would say that about his 4 years at Leeds.

the best Rugby we have played IMO was 2005 - ironically a year we didn't win anything but we were outstanding and entertaining to watch.
