Yep…Sutcliffe been playing through a knee injury this season.

Our whole squad seems littered with either people out injured or playing whilst injured…a crazy state of affairs at this point of the season…I was hoping the new S&C team would get on top of this as it’s been deja vu for a few seasons now but here we still are

Don’t think much S and C can do. Mixture of bad luck and sadly injury prone players. But some of the younger ones may end up doing what Lomax has done and have a great run for many years….

What has been going on these last 2 years that's lead to being by far the worst injury hit team?

Bad luck and I’m not sure all the graphs, iced baths, computer generated recovery times, S and C coaches, nutritionists etc actually help the players that much at times. Gets incredibly complex. Very one dimensional too. Some if the best players who never got injured over the years had their own approach. Ben Westwood springs to mind…..

God knows Seth. Probably a number of things including bad luck but when we used to play at Widnes on that pitch we always picked up a few injuries and now we train on one daily at Kirkstall.

Clutching at straws. I dont know. Things need to improve in that area thats for sure. Having so many out would kill any team.

We sure need Devine intervention. We what have a prophet (JJB) and are waiting for a messiah (Zachariah?)

I'd agree there that the game is over analysed in all departments with the apparent outcome being lower playing standards and higher injury rate.


Digressing, but I took my team as u14s to Kirkstall some years ago and the detail the performance analysis suite went into to break down the biomechanics of every players movements just seemed counter productive to me, as someone whos career is in sport development.

As an aside on that trip I remember Simon Bell saying to these 13 year olds 'if we approach to sign you and you turn us down, we won't be coming back for you. We only want players who 100% want to play for leeds'. While I understand the stiment to a degree, this seemed over board (especially at their age) and an indictment of this leeds sense of being entitled.

Glad you’ve seen that too, and seen it at Grass roots. All looks very shiny and impressive though don’t it?!
JJB was going on about I how they actually employ someone to do stats and graphs if the players performance . He said some of the players look ‘awesome’ on there. I just thought they’ve lost the plot….how about teaching some of them to pass and catch? Put a man through a gap. Defend in a line!

One of the reasons I stepped away from scholarship coaching was that its over coached and not at all player centred, the performance environment just goes against my coaching ethos.
