A player I used to love to watch, even against us. Could seemingly make something happen out of nothing wherever he was on the field.

All the very best to him and his family and friends in his fight, such a shame.

From a Wire fan who knows talent when he sees it, good luck Rob!

Having won a competition I was sat behind the posts with my daughter in the Saints end at the 2011 Grand Final, when Rob scored THAT try. As he ran towards us i kept thinking he was going to be caught, i couldn't believe he scored and on the biggest stage. So fitting that Danny Mags was first to congratulate him.
So many wonderful memories not only on attack but also in defense, when some wide running second rower would run at this little guy and find himself firmly plonked on the ground.
One of our true greats

The moment Kev walks in and hugs rob in the interview is true friendship. Heartbroken hearing how it’s already affected his speech

Does anyone remember a national radio station calling him from a music show and talked about his views on popular music of the day . I think he was on every week for a period of time ?

I've had a pretty ty year this year, starting off with the death of a close family member, my business has had a really tough year (thankfully we seem to be pulling through well at the end f the year) and yes as trite and as unimportant as it is Rhinos having a poor season added to it, I've been pretty stoic throughout it but that bit where Kev came in to console Rob broke me.

What I will say and I'm sure Rob would want people to think this way is that it sdoes put everything into perspective and the courage shown by Rob to do the interviews and talk so openly about it has inspired me to make sure I put everything into next year (and beyond) you never know when things like this can strike and you have to make the best of everyday and tackle things head on.

An absolute inspiration Rob and it has been so heartwarming to see the support he is getting from the Rugby League family and the wider public.

Rob is one of those players who make RL so exciting to watch. Even as a fan of a team he ran ragged on many occasions he was a sheer joy to watch, and I wish him and his family all the best for the hard times they face.

I'm genuinely upset for them - and that's just not like me usually.

I was absolutely gutted when I heard the news, then when he came on the telly I couldn't hold back the tears, what an amazing player, I'm sure he'll battle this like he battled during his marvellous career, good luck Rob and thanks for everything.

Heartbreaking. Just listened to his BBC interview and clearly his speech is already affected. Such a horrible disease with so few treatment options. I can't add much to the sentiments and tributes already expressed here and on various social media outlets.

Just hope he gets all the comfort and support that's available and that his wife and young family can get some financial security to help face a difficult and uncertain future. Dark days indeed

Im in bits. I really, genuinely mean that, that man has given me and everyone else literally everything he had on the field and to be struck down so young, with such a young family so early in life is simply heart breaking. Im numb.

It's just awful news. He's top bloke and a great player. I desperately hope something can be done for him, though medically I believe it's not possible. We play you in a 'friendly' shortly If you want to start a 'There's only one Robbie Burrow' chant I think we'll all be joining in.

In 2003 the club were putting on dinners with the players for season ticket holders and we got to sit with Rob. He was great company and full of hope for his and the club’s future.
I don’t pretend that I know Rob well but this has hit me really hard, maybe because of the fact that I’ve actually been lucky enough to meet him.
I’m absolutely devastated, it’s just not fair.

Thanks to fans of other clubs for the touching comments on here and good to see the fund raising has already gone through £100k when gift aid included.

I’m not articulate enough to express my true feelings properly on here but many others have done it for me.
