| James Donaldson went ok i thought defended well and can put abit of a shot on for his size would give him a contract could be a useful player to rotate with Ward, Ablett, Smith, JJB and Ferres.

| We looked weak in the forwards, particularly coming off our line and for me the only thing that will change that are new signings. We also dropped the ball a fair bit, gave silly penalties away and switched off at times - all the same issues we had under McDermott. I caveat that with the fact that it's early in pre season
Positives were the evidence of a few nice set plays, one of which sent us in for the winning try. Tui looked good, Petreu and cam Smith looked good as well. Despite being very poor in the first half we defended well on our line and pulled out a win.
Lots to work on but some positives as well.
Now what do I do with these newly acquired bragging rights...?

| Quote: Gotcha "Didn’t think L Sutcliffe did that bad today to be honest. His major weakness though is mentality,he just doesn’t seem to have the capacity to remain switched on, or have the heart for it.
Thought Dobaldson other than his dropped ball worked incredibly hard. But you couldn’t go with him and JJB in the same seventeen. Although he looked much better than the current JJB who simply looked even more than his age.
Tui looked like he had all the class, but will need to show more when the important games come.
Overall the fear about big enough still stands out. We did look weak in terms of physical size and ability to make yardage.
How was that not a sending off for Trinity though. Shocking cop out by ref.'"
That’s always been my concern with Sutcliffe. He clearly has the physical skills but I doubt he has the mental ones.
As for being big enough I agree in general though we’ve got Merrin, Singleton and Ferres to go back in who along with Ablett would add some size and/or stability. But I’d have preferred us to get another prop as well.

| Speaking of Ferres. Was talking to him before game, and wow, really slimmed down, and looks physically good. See how it goes.

Great! I was pleased when we signed ferres, I thought we were getting a second rower who ran the ball well on some good lines and made an impact. If we can get something close to that Ferres back he’ll be a big plus for us.

| Positives for me were our D in our own half Tui showed some good signs Dwyer was a threat & i thought Walker was decent aswell.
Negatives were they brought on Fifita & an unfit Pauli we brought on Mullally & Donaldson which highlights where we lack perfectly.
Our handling was poor and we need shut of at least 5 players imo.
The less said of Hicks the better.

| Not going to post any negatives, there’s been too many this year! So, positives...
The new South Stand is fantastic so well done to all concerned, the stadium despite the WT is really going to be a first class facility.
Our goal line defence and defence in our own half was very good.
Walker, Ward, Tui, Myler were all great IMO
Won’t be popular on here but I thought Sutcliffe looked far better in the SR and will be useful there this coming season.
And my highlight was Myler mullering Brough in the second half and Brough really not liking it!

| I know it's an easy sport ref bashing but if that 'tackle' by Randall on Luke b in the first half didn't warrant a red card then I'm really not sure what does these days?
What were other people's view of it?

What I said previous page, couldn’t have a clearer red. It was intentional and bad, not what the yellow was brought in for.

Definately Red imo mate but that decision highlighted Hicks' ineptitude perfectly he was woeful.

| Also forgot to add, nice to see them listening to the fans and stopping playing the music whenever there was a stoppage! That was ridiculously annoying!

i thought he would walk but no the ref bottled it. If you think Hicks was bad for Leeds open your other eye as well.
he let Leeds slow the ruck down got some decisions completely wrong.
I do not think you offered anything in attack to be honest not that Wakey offered much more. I fear for your pack that looks like your weakness as teams get into the season.

Can't disagree with any of what you have written.
I thought wakey were the better side but just couldn't get over for that second try.
