| Quote: Sir Kevin Sinfield "Every other country in the world (in all sports) picks the best available eligible team, regardless of place of birth. Maybe nobody has told Wayne Bennett some backward thinking flat earth brigade find it unacceptable for England rugby league to do the same.'"
And on the highlights reel before the game, showing the superstars in action, they can show the Morris twins scoring for Australia. Perhaps even against England. And then the whole country can watch the two Morris boys dip their heads when they play the national anthem, because they won't want to sing it.
Interesting that you refer to the flat earth brigade when your stance is "England at all costs". Perhaps give the colonial twins a burst of Rule Britannia while you're at it. They'll love that.

Why?
Unless you believe he'll be replacing Matt Moylan as Penrith fullback

| So many RL people fuss about developing players, and the impact having a couple of ring-ins might have. How about the impact that actually beating Australia when it counts for the first time in 40 years? That's worth more than the development of any player IMO.

Your totally missing the point, how can we possibly beat Aus if we pick players that are only playing for us because they are not good enough for the roos?

| Who except the most hysterical is suggesting that Bennett will fill an England team full of Kanagaroos rejects? Where is the evidence of even one? Just as a hypothetical, if Bennett did pick the Morris twins, do you think England would be stronger or weaker this year? Please feel free to name the "English" outside backs that are better than them.
All that's been suggested is that Bennett might be looking at English-qualified NRL players. Just as McNamara did before him, although Bennett is likely to hold more sway than his predecessor.
Its interesting to read Brett Morris saying he hadn't spoken to Bennett about it, so its all just another media beat up ATM.

So we will just lose by less - if they aren't good enough for Australia I don't see the point. We should be trying to develop a side for the future not a short term fix so we don't get embarrassed.

The point is are they better than England can currently field in that position, and by improving that position do England improve their chances of winning?
If you look at the Morris twins and genuinely say no in both cases then I would suggest you're allowing your judgement to be clouded.

| Sal, without a completely unlikely massive upswing in quality in SL, the only way England will ever beat Australia is with as many NRL players as possible. We've been trying to develop home grown players for ever, and yet we often struggle to find a quality 1-5 (right now we're one or two injuries away from players who wouldn't get a regular NRL start never mind being stars) and haven't had a pair of quality halfbacks since Schofield was playing. I can't see one English halfback in SL that would be a regular in the NRL.
The aim has to be to compete and win. But I'm fed up of England being gallant losers (or just losers full stop). I want the England coach to be cuththroat and completely single minded about getting wins. So long as what he does is within the laws of the game I'm all for it. TBH I don't think we can win with Bennett or anyone else as we simply don't have enough quality players. But I hope he proves me wrong.

Gale would go well in the NRL, unfortunately for him no NRL team would look to SL for a halfback
The last england team to beat the aussies was 2006 believe?
No Aussies in the side and only one NRL player
There are good players in SL they just have to have the belief that they can win, a belief that will be eradicated if we play ausies in the side who are only playing because the roos wouldn't have them

You may as well say homeopathy cures cancer, you just have to believe hard enough.
There are good players in SL, but for every good player in SL there are two or three better in the NRL. Name me one player in SL who is the best player in the world in their respective position.
