| Golding was not the reason why we lost on Friday.
Saints could not afford to lose, we could.

| He's young and inexperienced, no he is not as good as Hardaker or does he play like him but what was Hardaker doing at his age?

I agree
He is a young lad who finished high school in July!
He also had a serious back injury following the Wire game.
He has bulked up considerably and seems to have picked up some additional spped
For a youngster he did well and if the forwards did a better job of keeping the ball then we may have seen more attacking options from him
Is he a full back? Not if Hardaker stays that's for sure but remember our half backs are getting a tad old and he may well be one to fill that particular role.
However, I do think reserve tam rugby would develop the likes of Golding quicker than the current system

| The step up from U19's to the first team is massive, and one that the majority of players will take some time to deal with. Include the fact that he's just come back from a major injury, playing in the most exposed position, in a team that was low on energy and missing some troops - he handled it pretty damn well. It's not a surprise that he wasn't trying to burst the tackles when brinigng it out, and I'm happier to see him secure the ball than try to emulate Zak. Also, every one of his appearances have been in difficult circumstances when the team has struggled. There's never been a time when the team have been on fire and he looked like the weak link.
The only negative about our success is that it attracts people who just expect the success to continue. The club has been built on a ethos of investing in people and getting them to buy into the culture. If people don't like what this means they should go support Salford where they're looking to buy success.
Sometimes it's embarrasing to see what people say on here. People who know much more than me about the game see alot of potential in him, including the Aussies who were raving about him only months ago.

| Good grief, if some think Golding is a liability they should have seen Rex Terp back in the day
FWIW, I thought Golding did ok, as most posters have pointed out it's wasn't a world beating performance, but was solid at what he did.....the kid is young, and raw, give him some time before we hang him out to dry.

Well said
Its about time people stop complaining and start supporting
Leave the coaching to the management team.
Feel free to comment but at least make sure it is constructive. If Golding was to read this thread then god knows what it would do for his confidence
The clue is in our title - Supporters not destroyers!
OK rant over

| Quote: Les Norton "I think there's more to this than you jokingley suggest. For some reason I myself don't like players with long hair. I unintelligibly decide a player must be rubbish just based on their inexcusable choice of hairstyle.
I decide Gene Ormsby was going to be useless before I'd seen him take to the field, and my pre-conceived judgement proved correct. Ashton Simms is just a bafoon.
Morrissey once said that long hair on a man is an unpardonable offence, which should be punished by death. I wouldn't go this far but I understand the sentiment.
Getting back to Golding, well I'll never, ever write off a young player who plays in SL before they are physically ready. Coming off second best, not being able to physically impose yourself is going to happen frequently. He looked to grow in confidence as the game went on and became more involved in the attack. If he had more upper body strength giving the opportunities to fend then he could have looked more dangerous. He maybe turn out to be a couple of inches undersized to make it at FB but there's no way I'd write him off yet.'"
It does sound silly. But I have a working pet theory which goes something likeThou shalt not attract undue attention to oneself - whether it be by appearance, mannerisms or deed - or risk making yourself a target.[/i Once you become a target for certain sections of the fans you've literally got to shut them up with superstar performances every week. Which is ok for superstars. Not so for lesser mortals.
Young Jamie Foster fell victim at Saints. And he wasn't the first.
This is why coaches tell youngsters to "keep your head down" and not "play to the crowd" too often.
I'm poking fun at the lad's hair. But very often that's all it takes. Drop the ball with regulation short-back-and-sides, unremarkable appearance etc. and no one notices. They certainly don't remember. Drop the ball with a big bushy perm trailing behind you, or day-glo boots, or socks rolled down to the ankles and everybody knows your name.

| Funny you should mention Jamie Foster and hair. He used to "maintain" it during games didn't he? I even heard Bradford fans on Sunday taking the pish out of his preening! What's he doing these day?

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| i though Golding did well. I think we missed Hardaker hugely. Which just goes to show how good Hardaker has been.
all but probably 2 other sides in SL would have been raving about Goldings performance at this stage of his development. Even Wigan and Saints would have been happy with the lad. We have been spoilt.

Some do, plenty have argued for Golding, others seem to think that Hardaker was turned out of a mould rather than developed over time.

| With Burrow potentially out for a few weeks I think that we might see Golding play six on Saturday.
