but the club and team can do no wrong apologists will no doubt justify it
Either way after the semi the 'future' team should be selected.

| Quote: ThePrinter "Whilst much has been made of the 'Points For' column and how we are trailing in it, we should also remember that we don't batter the lower placed teams like some of the other do. In fact if you take the 10 games we've played so far against the other 5 teams in the race for the top 4 then you can come up with this......
Leeds
Points For - 188
Points Against - 166
And for comparison to the Wigan attack much loved on here
Wigan
Points For - 198
Points Against - 189
Granted we didn't put Salford to the sword like they did last week, nor when we did beat Bradford earlier in the season did we put 84 past them (only a mere 46 in comparison)......but they aren't the teams who we're going to have to beat in the playoffs.'"
Leeds record this year against the other teams in the top 6 is as follows
Saints - Pd 1 Lst 1
Wigan Pd 2 W1 Lst 1
Cas Pd2 W1 D1
Warrington Pd 2 W1 Lst 1
Giants Pd2 D1 Lst 1
So they have a W3 D2 L4 record - these are the teams they will be playing in play offs!!
You can make stats say almost anything

| Oh goody, the team already being criticised for not scoring 50 points in a match they haven't even played yet.
And people get upset and defensive when I say there's a heavy negative attitude on here

The attitude on here is realistic given the standard of play fans are witnessing - as the saying goes you cannot polish a turd.
League position being in the CC semi is irrelevant the standard of entertainment - let's not forget that is all this is - is substandard and getting worse. There are not man positives to take from the garbage that is currently being touted as elite level rugby league.
Even Stevie Wonder can see that

Expectations are high I suspect because a supposedly high aspiring team like Leeds (on record as stating they want to finish top) with so many incontrovertibly talented players [ishould[/i be capable of such a feat.'"
I am chilled.....note the smiley face at the end of the previous post.
Just pointing out how silly and extremely OTT people can get on here IMO. They get all defensive calling themselves realists even though many of their complaints are based around events/failings that have yet to happen yet 'but surely will in the future'......yep Mystic Meg-ing it is always the solid foundation for realism

I interpret the 'criticism' in this case as being that the poster doesn't 'feel / believe' Leeds will score 50+. Intellectually and on a common-sense level, there is no reason to stop them doing it, but I think for a lot of people at the moment (due the downward trend in performances since May) there isn't that 'belief' or 'feeling' that they will.
I think that is what the poster is criticising - to outsiders Leeds 'should' score 50+, but for some on the inside, that je ne sais quoi isn't there.
It's painting by numbers at the moment, rather than turning up and seeing a creative masterpiece unfold spontaneously.
Or something...

If you paint by numbers, you follow the sequence and you make it to the end.

On last Friday's showing I wouldn't be so sure, we'd probably drop the palette or the paintbrush.

| IMHO Leeds save their best moves and their best tactics for the bigger more important games.
With the current structure why show all of your cards during meaningless fixtures?
I think we will see a bit more structure and guile this weekend.

One thing is for sure the performance on Saturday win or lose will be whole lot better than Friday night.
The players will give it everything and as a fan you cannot ask anymore.

| If it's the headless chicken routine and below par performance of the last couple of months, then I will certainly not be a happy bunny.
Anything less than a full 80 minute gut busting performance is required. And I sincerely hope that in training this week, someone has pointed out to our wingers the direction that traditionally they would be expected to run in......ie, towards the opposition try line, and not sideways across the pitch!
It's definitely a fingers crossed match, rather than a bring it on type.

..."a bit more" ...?? hmmmmm.. Good enough for just a 30 points loss instead of 50 then?

The wingers probably think hey it works for Burrow ....once in a season and [ihe[/i is praised for his guile.
To be honest I thought you a better man..."bring it on" I say. They all have at least TWO guts to bust after their last miserable performances. Briscoe probably has THREE. McGuire TWENTY
