| There seems to be a common theme here, fans from all clubs applauding Sinny... and then there's the sour-faced bitter resentful Wigan bigots, most of whom will never be able to appreciate any aspect of the British game that isn't draped in a Cherry and White flag.
Well done Sir Kev. I can't remember a player so valuable to their team in 45 years of watching.

| Congratulations on the award but considering the list of recent winners reads like the who's who of outstanding World Class RL performers of the 21st century - I never expected to see any current English player merit that same status - and IMO as an individual he still doesn't.
2006 - Darren Lockyer
2007 - Cameron Smith
2008 - Billy Slater
2009 - Greg Inglis
2010 - Benji Marshall
2011 - Johnathan Thurston
2012 - Kevin Sinfield
He's been consistently fantastic in SL and a talisman for his only pro club - a deserving Leeds legend - but I, like others have done, would question whether the Golden Boot is the right award to recognise his achievements given the lamentable International programme in 2012.

| TVOC - Just publish the list. It looks good! The opinion is just that.
The bitterness on the Pie Board is hilarious. What a great start to a New Year!

| if australia had bothered with a 4 nation event then the winner might have been smith but they didnt so can hardly complain when a british player dominates the tests he plays in on the back of a brilliant end of the season
i cant remember how many finals sinfield has led us too in the last 10 years but i'd wager the combined finals of wigan, wire and hull will struggle to match it

He's very good but he is not a true world class No.6/13 and he wouldn't get into the Australia team IMHO.

| First of all Congatulations Sir Kev an award that is well deserved and long overdue, I feel a reflection of what the great man has achieved over the years not just last season.
Now I have just lost 20mins of my life (had to do a nappy change on my little girl half way through) reading the bitter bitter drivell over on the pie board, agree with some on here if samanther had won that award it would have been 50+ pages of masturbation by now. Can they not see that Sir Kev steered us though another grand final winning year, yes it wasn't great at times but Kev was there every game and at the back end of the season was outstanding as we marched on to glory. And to cap it all he was named as captain of his country and won the international series they were competing in.
Im sorry to upset all the pies but samanther cost you two cup final places last year, the CC by being 5hite and the GF by being injured becuase we all know he would have caught Sir kev's bomb......oh hang on!!!

| The Golden Boot award tends to be based on the play offs and Internationals in which Sinfield won both as captain with 3/4 MOM performances. Barba/Tomkins are great players in the less intense weekly rounds but have yet to showcase it in the big finals. Cameron Smith was Sinfields main rival.
Its great Tomkins scoring 5 against some mickey mouse club but where was he in the 4 nations final last year or the CC semi this year. The best players are the players teams turn to in big matches to get the victory. Sinfield has won three trophies and lost out in a final. His kicking in play and at goal which I believe was 100% in the play offs was exceptional.
Sinfield has been a great leader, very professional and has been the most influential player in SL when it has come to the big games. Sinfield is certainly the best player in SL and you cannot argue how influential in Leeds victories he has been.
The Man of Steel award is awarded too early, some players leave their best performances for the biggest games. SL should make judgement once the biggest match of the season has occurred.

| 88, I understand what you're saying, well why don't RLW say that, that the latter matches in the season are bigger and much emphasis will be put on those. But they're not! As State of Origin are the biggest matches, and as you know they're in May/June and July.
